Vanity Hair Studio NYC

Worse service ever. The owner is extremely unprofessional and rude. Prices are through the roof. It costs $250 for a phone consultation to discuss possible becoming a client. I was told after 24 hours send an email stating you are still interested in service along with the type of hair products I use, number of locs in my head (I haven't counted) and styles I would be interested it. After I sent an email of interest, I was sent an email refusing service because the owner wrote me I told her after having a baby, i have 4 locs that need repair, and the owner said my hair is too damaged none of the style they asked me to provide wouldnt work for me. One style was a simple bun... without ever seeing my hair. I guess she is a psychic. Regardless, I would not recommended her. She is also suspended on the national sister locks website... I wonder why? I hope I helped you dodge a bullet.

I have been in touch with Natasha since September 2022 and finally did my microloc install on June 19th. It was everything that I hoped for and more. If you follow Natasha on YouTube and IG, she is the exact same way in the salon, funny and transparent- a professional with integrity.
She made me feel welcome and comfortable at the salon. She gave me a clear rundown of the loc install process and educated me on how to properly care for them. I left with no regrets and excited to go back for my follow-up up appointment next month.

My recent salon experience with Natasha at Vanity Hair Studio NYC was nothing short of a disaster! I was referred to Natasha by my MUA Makeupbylatisha and therefore had high hopes when I walked into the salon, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. I would not wish my experience on my worst enemy- Its definitely a nightmare if you spend close to $1000 in services and develop a scalp condition requiring medical attention due to Natasha not properly washing her products from my hair!

Upon arrival I waited approximately 45 minutes before Natasha was able to get started. She mumbled an apology and in the same breath indicated they had no hot water - but recommended I still let her proceed with my appointment because her next availability would not be until September.

Since I drove 90 minutes for my service I decided to proceed with the cold water. Perhaps i should have taken the lack of timeliness and hot water as a sign but hindsight is 20/20.

After her washing my hair both my scalp and locs felt strange and heavy as if they were coated in shampoo. I took a quick look on my phone camera and it confirmed my suspicions-my locs were Sud covered. I spoke up on multiple occasions that my wash was incomplete only to be provided various excuses. I knew this was not normal.She finally stated that she has a limit on how much wash time she performs per client because long washes increases her salons overhead costs but because she hates bad reviews, she would wash my hair one more time.

The remainder of my service was very rough and rushed. Natasha's professionalism was out the door. She was on the phone while she completed servicing me and the last straw was when I overheard her saying "whenever we don't have hot water, these annoying clients dispute their charge with bank"! Upon completion Natasha said she would only be able to accept cash though that hadnt been disclosed before.She said she could accompany to an atm if i did not have zelle. I'm promptly paid the fee plus my standard 20% gratuity and vowed never to return to her salon. The next day I found patches of my locs still coated in soap.After spending nearly $1000 between consultations, service costs and gratuity, plus more at the dermatologist I recommend you avoid Natasha at Vanity Hair Studio at all costs. She's unlicensed and unprofessional.

As a professional woman with integrity and poise even in bad situations I waited afew weeks to gather my thoughts and leave a review to warn others.

This individual has a rude disposition about herself. She does not know how to be professional and talk to clients. She's quick to make slick remarks and degrade your hair once she feels you're not a good "fit" for her salon. Major rip off.

I have been a client for a little over a year and I absolutely love Natasha and Chika!!!
Chika installed my locs (it was my second try at sister locs). They look awesome. I love the progress of my locs. Natasha (the owner) is so knowledgeable and makes sure my locs are healthy. She made me wait to color them (I totally listened to her) so I wouldn't have damage. I highly recommend this salon.

I'm not one that usually goes to hair salons. However, I decided to embark on this new hair journey and get locs. As I did research for days, I was surprised on how little the number of salons there were specializing in locs. After reading the reviews and checking out Vanity's website, I knew this was the salon for me to start my locs. Although they specialized in sister locs I knew I could trust them installing my traditional locs. Before installations you're required to the have a consultation.

My consultation was with the owner Natasha and she was great! She explained to me everything I needed to know before I started my locs. She answered any questions I had and made me feel at ease. The knowledge and professionalism she had reassured me that I found a great salon and I couldn't wait to get started.

I'm currently a few months into my traditional locs journey and I love how they're turning out. Not only do the stylist know what they're doing, they take their time and make sure you're satisfied. While getting your hair done they put on the TV for you in case you want entertainment and are always checking in with you to make sure you're okay. I love the energy that you can feel throughout the salon and how clean and professional they are. I would highly recommend anyone to Vanity Hair Studio in a heartbeat. I'm so happy to have found them and I can't wait to see how my hair keeps nourishing. Thank you Vanity Hair Studio!!!

I had a consultation and a starter loc appointment with Natasha.

Before the consultation I spoke with Natasha and she was VERY informative in the short amount of time we were on the phone. I could tell that she genuinely cared for her clients and valued providing accurate information. I didn't feel like she was trying to get me in her salon asap just for the sake of it. And that's a BIGGIE for me.

She answered all of my questions HONESTLY during the consultation and took her time. I made the decision to get locs on December 18th, had the consultation on January 3rd and had my starter locs installed on the 27th. I felt that I could trust her, which made choosing her as my stylist for my loc journey, a no brainer!

She's very polite, professional, accommodating, informative, and patient!

I came here for a haircut for my sisterlocks. First I would like to thank the receptionist for helping me make the appointment. I had trouble finding the service online and she was wonderful in helping me book, very patient.

Petra was my stylist and she was wonderful to work with. Let me tell you, I hate haircuts. I feel like some stylist always either cut too much or make the haircut look weird so I tend to stay away from it but I really did not like how my hair looked so I decided to try again.

From beginning to end Petra made me feel at ease. She was very knowledgeable about my hair and gave me very good advice about the cut I wanted. I never felt pressured or uncertain with her. The whole time she was always explaining what she was doing and why she was doing it which was SUPER reassuring.

I usually wait about a day to see if I like something or not when it comes to my hair but as soon she was done I was in love. My hair felt so healthy, I couldn't keep my hand out of it haha. I highly recommend this salon. It's small but very clean and inviting. My sister is considering sisterlocks and I will definently suggest her coming here. Thank you so much!

I cannot say how happy I am that I contacted Vanity Hair studio when I finally decided to have my Sisterlocks installed.

Most say to consult with 3-4 consultants when deciding on your lock install but after meeting with Natasha at my first consult I was convinced. She was very warm, informative and didn't come across as money hungry. I was so excited and felt so comfy with her after my consult I was ready to book that day but she told me "No!" Go home and think about it. That made up my mind and I have not had a single regret since. Not even 1. She is warm, comforting, easy to talk to, generous to a fault and not judgmental and knowledgeable.

The salon is beautiful, you're in a private room so you don't have to deal with the looky loos, salon gossip & tension. The loud guys coming in to sell stuff to you and the ordering out & eating. She also offers microblading now . Also in a private, clean, sanitary room and she is completely licensed and knowledgeable about that too and listens to your wants and concerns.

Between my beautiful locks and on point brows even this older doll feels so confident.

I've been admiring Natasha W. from Vanity Hair Studio work literally for years. I already had Microlocs at the top but I wanted to do my sides and back and I did not trust anyone but her to do them correctly. I got my locs done at the Long Island location, which is just as beautiful as the Brooklyn location. It was so worth the drive!Natasha was on time and made me feel very comfortable during my install. She is truly the GOAT of Microlocks/Sisterlocks!!!
