Love this studio! Definitely not as crowded or as large as their uptown location, but that's fine by me! They have a wide range of classes offered at different times of the day to fit any schedule! Props and mats are available if you need them. I love that they have a large waiting area. They also have a nice little retail area and have regular sales if you need some new gear! This studio is already in my regular rotation!

Love this studio! Instructors are wonderful. I don't do yoga very often but do enjoy the flexibility benefits it offers. Perfect way to get your day started and very convenient location. And for a post workout refuel I always walk over to I Love Juice Bar for a protein shake or a smoothie bowl!

This studio is for people who just want to convert yoga into a workout. My goal is to feel more peaceful and balanced. I was hoping this would be a yoga workout that would meet my goals, but this was an epic fail.
The workout is a hot vinyasa style (a variation of Kest or Baptiste's styles). The room is warm, but not ridiculously hot or humid. The new studio is larger but just as nice as the old studio. More of a drive from my home, though.
The workouts are not well balanced. The regular flow class I went to was 53 minutes of standing and balancing poses and 7 minutes of seated and reclined poses. This was with a teacher that another Yelper loved. I won't bore you with the yogic theory of why a class should have a variety of poses to create balance, peace, bliss, etc. Regardless, due to the instructor's chosen poses, the class built up a lot of aggression, not peace.
I tried a deep stretch class, too, but I can't say that holding a plank is my idea of a deep stretch.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Katie L.Los Angeles, CA3333Jan 11, 2020
I love my experience at every Uptown Yoga location. Alex is my favorite, but all the instructors are great and very knowledgeable!!

I really enjoy the classes and instructors at my studio! I feel like we are a family. They have lots of classes on the schedule so there is always something available to fit into my schedule.

I like the class schedule times - there is always a class I can attend any time of the day. It's in a good location too with plenty of parking.

Really like this yoga studio. I enjoy their all level flow classes, which they have I believe every day of the week. However, that being said I wish there was more variety in the classes they have. They do have a stretch and restore class and an advanced flow class but those are only held 1x a week. Other than that, this place is great and I am considering it for my teacher training.

The instructor (Naomi) provides intentional and thoughtful guidance in advance of each pose and just makes it all fun too!

I'm fairly new to yoga. This was my 6th class overall, 1st at Uptown Yoga. All of the other classes I've been to have been rejuvenating, inspiring and left me feeling centered. Unfortunately, this class did not.
I believe it started with my initial frustration in finding the place as it is very hidden (tip - turn on Tucker and then take the first left, pass Cane Rosso and you're there!). The annoyance continued on as I checked in and let them know that it was my first time - this is typically the point where they give you a quick run down of the place and show/point you to the studio. That didn't happen and I had to just figure out where everything was on my own.
Now I'll get to the REALLY unsettling part for me - as the class got started, the instructor, Janie, proceeded to give an "Inner Strength" speech. I was into it, until she started adding profanity including several "F words". I'm not offended by profanity nor am I against using it, but in a yoga session it seems out of place. That word, along with most other profane words, are typically used in a negative tone/manner. I can't really think of a time or place where that word is used for positivity or building people up.
It was downright unprofessional. I would never dream of using that kind of language with my customers. While I'm sure there were students there that are closer to this instructor that I was, we/they are still the customer and, in my opinion, it was out of line.
Other than that, the class was ok. I agree with other Yelpers in that it was mostly filled with lots of planks and downward dogs, nothing really challenging. I don't think I'll be back.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Keeley K.San Diego, CA1622Dec 5, 2019

Love love love this yoga studio. All of the instructors are phenomenal and really make this a yoga lifestyle that balances the emotional, mental and physical. Many of the other studios in Dallas are all about the "poses" but the atmosphere at Uptown Yoga is much more laid back and supportive and you don't have those folks who are showing off. I've been going here for over a year and look forward to the journey ahead. Namaste, friends!!
