Uppercuts Men's Hair Saloon

I never write reviews. Especially, not at barbershops because regardless of upset I am. Hair is hair. Eventually, It will grow back. BUT today I will make an exception.

The fades are very poorly done. I have had barbers switch between multiple sizes of guard to ensure the fade is perfectly blended. That was NOT the experience of my recent visit. I could clearly see the division of where the bald line was inserted and after I asked to blend the fade better; the barber told me that "she did her best, but I will go over it again." Imagine getting a haircut that you are noticeably distraught about and hearing "I did my best." Especially, when on multiple occasions from barbers of different states, Ive been told I have the easiest type of hair to fade. Finally, my line up was crooked and instead of a square hairline, one side of my hair ended up with half of an octagon. (difficult to describe and too embarrassing to post a picture).

Although, I did have quite the negative and unfordable experience, there were some positives. The price of the haircut is extremely reasonable. It has been near a decade since I have paid less than $20 for a haircut. $20 included not only the haircut but your hair styled with the product of your choosing, and a free drink. Lastly, the only reason I didn't completely blow up is the service. The staff was extremely kind, made a big effort to get to know me and provide a pleasant experience. The shop was extremely clean and very comfortable with plenty of parking.

Lastly, take everything I have said with a grain of salt. I, initially, chose this barbershop due to the amount of high ratings on yelp and google maps. Obviously, they're doing something right. Somehow, I just ended up with a bad haircut. Which happens as nobody is perfect. All in all, I will not be returning but if you are someone with thick wavy hair as myself who loves a good taper and/or fade and nothing else, maybe this isn't the barbershop for you.

Free drink before(or after) cut.

Only con is they are cash only but they do have an ATM on site.

So, the 2 stars is base on my opinion of my first and alone visit here.

It's very hard to find a place that can cut Asian hair. The nearest place is about a 40 minute drive from me and it eats up alot of my time having to drive that far to wait for a haircut and drive back.

So, I gave Uppercuts a try and it just didn't workout. Going into it I kind of knew what to expect. I even chatted with the girl who cut my hair how hard it is to find a person in this area that can cut my hair right. I explained to her how I wanted my haircut and how I normally style it. Also how I have pet peeves about single strand hairs sticking out on the sides and back. The place isnt well lit and you are far from the mirror so it's hard to see those missed hairs sticking out. After the cut was done I went home and the wife laughed and said she still loved me lol... Perfect clue that my haircut wasn't good...

The only good thing I can say about the visit is that she was nice and they do offer a drink with your haircut. I got a Barq's root beer since I don't drink alcohol.

Like I said this is base on my visit and my opinion only. I'm sure they can cut hair perfectly fine but, not Asian hair.

I'll be wearing a hat for the next couple of weeks while my hair grows back

Totally forgot to mention that I asked for a shampoo and rinse but, because her appointment was there she couldn't take the extra time to do it. So, when I got home and ran my hands through my hair I got two handful of excess hair that wasn't even blow-dried out. I also found plenty of stray strands of hair sticking out that I need to cut myself when I got home.

Went in for a fade definitely came out with a couple uppercuts to the head . Worst fade I've ever seen in my life . I would rather go to a barber school for the blind then ever step foot in this place again . The $10 dollars I left you wasn't a tip it was pity . You are the definition of a post-turtle.

Great atmosphere! Sports news on TVs. 8yr old kid next to me telling me Tom Brady updates. Tammy was great, took her time and gave me a great cut. Legit beer selection for regular guys and beer snobs alike. Nice spin from a traditional barbershop.

Needed a haircut - not a style or anything fancy - and since I'm a guy, I like guy places. This isn't a mancave, but the ladies specialize in men's haircuts. And with a cold one, you can't go wrong coming here!

I was treated like family. I felt comfortable and at home. It was hands down the greatest experience I have ever had. I treated myself to a deluxe and could not recommend any higher. If I was permanently stationed here, Uppercuts would be the ONLY place I got my haircut.

In the navy and was in Gulfport for a few weeks and in need of a haircut before a chief pulled me aside. Was lucky enough to walk into Uppercuts and meet April. Got the best haircut I've had in years. I literally made an appointment to get a trim the day I left to go back home after training just to have a fresh cut for a couple of weeks. If I was stationed in Gulfport, I would have a regular appointment schedule with April.

With Mr. Joe retiring and closing up shop, I now had to look and find a new barber to get my hair "did". Not wanting to go all the way to Biloxi for a cut I was lucky enough to find a new place that opened up next to my gym.

Uppercuts is a "saloon" barber shop. Here you can come in and get your hair cut and have a beer as you watch ESPN all at the same time. Long line ahead of you? No worries, enjoy a few quick games of 9 or 8 ball as you wait sipping on a Heineken.

Now this is not your $8.00 cut and comb kinda of place, while they don't mind you coming in wearing shorts and flip flops, you will have to start paying more for a haircut than you would for a price of a movie. (Had an ex girlfriend whose dad shared these words of wisdom.) But with the cut comes a shampoo and conditioning, which may sound girly, but if you are getting ready to go out or heading back to work, you will appreciate not having hair around your ears or falling on your shirt.

They give police and military discount and while it may seem out of the way for some, if you stop by before your workout you can kill two birds with one stone!!!

Since moving to MS. my husband thought he'd never get a proper cut like he did at his previous place, this placed proved him wrong and the lady who does his hair went off of a picture and did it beyond justice! Great place, Great prices!
