Uni K Wax-Gainesville

Eh. It was fine. I prefer a more spa feeling in my waxing places. This was antiseptic and medical feeling. It's not a medical procedure; it's a beauty treatment. And I am not sure why one would prefer it to feel like a medical procedure. Though, I am sure some people do.
Olga did my waxing. She was friendly but curt. Not rude, just very business like. No chatting here. Generally, I am pro-no chatting. But this was an awkward silence.
She did a good job, though I did have to pick a few stray strings of wax off my legs. I don't mind, but it's better if you don't have to. I got my lower legs done. Which included toes and knees. And that was nice. It was done well. But it wasn't fun or relaxing, which for me it usually is. Sorry, ladies, it just doesn't hurt me. Talk to me again when I do the bikini line.

I came in here with the last appointment of the day and it was empty. They were cleaning and someone physically saw me and didn't say anything. I was there 5 minutes before my appointment and I didn't get taken in until 2 minutes after it started. Nobody said hi, they just paged my waxer.

I bought two waxing packages, which somehow, even combined missed a major body part I wanted done. I'll spare you the details of the service itself but the waxer, Olga, finished a few minutes before 7 and refused to add the service on even though I misunderstood. She did take the time to tell me I was wrong though.

I didn't mind that she wasn't chatty, I want my waxer efficient and the hell out of my lady parts ASAP. However, she could have taken the extra 3 minutes and finished up what I thought I'd ordered. I was willing to pay. Additionally, I still needed to clean up some of the areas I'd paid to have waxed with tweezers.

Definitely not a spa like environment which is fine, but the most jarring thing is that the rooms' walls don't go up to the ceiling, so anyone else in any other room can hear your conversation, chanting, crying, whatever it is you do in there. It's weird and off-putting. I won't be returning.

Uni K Wax provides a variety of services. All the services that I have received have been professional and clean. The place is kept sanitary with is very important. I am not necessarily a fan of the rooms. It kind of has a medical feel to it. It can make you uncomfortable the first time you go. I am used to it now so it's not a big deal. Ulga is my go to person that I like to book with. Although she can be intimidating at first she is the BEST! She may be all about business but she is FAST and delivers quality results. They provide a small discount for students. For some reason last time I went they did not give me my discount because it was during the summer. I was annoyed by that. Why does it matter that it's summer? I'm still a student during the summer. Receptionists have slowly become nicer. In the past they were not very friendly. I'm still giving 4 stars though for the service.

My second time here and while I always have anxiety walking in (because I know I'm about to be in pain), I absolutely love the results! I come here for the Brazilian full front and, this might be TMI but, I have thick hair so, it tends to hurt a lot(i've heard it gets better with time). I've seen Olga both visits here and she's great! Gets all the stubborn hair, not talkative, makes you feel comfortable and she just does her thing. I was in and out in about 20 min.

The prices are reasonable and they have a point system. I had only been here one other time and i had $10 in reward points idk how but, I wasn't complaining! Worth the pain and the money!

I called the same day and got an appointment within the hour for a full Brazilian wax, after calling at least 4-5 other places with no luck. I was offered appointments with several different waxers, but chose Olga because that was the soonest appointment. I arrived about 20-25 minutes early and Olga had one person in front of me, but I was still served in a timely manner.

One of the first things I noticed was how clean the waiting area was, there was also a very nice smell to the place. Not a perfume scent, but a nice relaxing smell. I asked to use the restroom, which was also very clean. Olga came to call me back to her room, once in the room she asked me to remove all my clothes from the waist down, she gave me a very little cover and a cleansing wipe to clean the area. She came back after a few minutes, asked what kind of wax I wanted and then got started.

She prepped the area, applied the wax and then turned a fan on the help it cool. After the wax had cooled off a little, she took it off, along with all the hair!! After she finished the front, then she applied cold packs and that was really nice! Afterwards she asked me to turn over so she could do the back.

This was by far one of the better, if not the best waxing experience I've had. Olga was great, she asked how was doing and if I had ever been waxed before. But she didn't talk too much. She was nice, personable and made me feel comfortable.

I will definitely come back =)

I love Uni K Wax-Gainesville. I walked in and was immediately impressed with how clean the place was. There was no wait for my appointment, and Claudia did a great job. She was extremely friendly and personable. This business is extremely professional. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who needs to get a wax in Gainesville, I will definitely be back!

I tried this place because of April's great review, and I thought I had a few things to share.

The place was very clean & attractive. I did some research online for waxing and this place went over and above for cleanliness! The table has fresh paper, the wax pot is yours - they are cleaned and refreshed for each customer. The wax girl wore gloves.

So, I was impressed. On top of that my attendant was either very knowledgeable or faked it well, and had a great bedside manner - I was pretty freaked out before we started.

I'm one of those people that likes reward programs. This waxing co has a nice one to compensate for regulars (you'll get extra points for booking online). They aren't my go-to for larger areas because I know a lady that can do a much better job and will make you feel *way* more comfortable. I've been here 5+ times for various smaller areas (underarms, lips). Every time you come(unless you specify/ know ahead of time a certain person you want) you will get a random specialist. This is fine for me for smaller areas but it just creates this culture where you never really get to know or like any of them (unless you visit many many times). From what I've seen the employees are kind -some more than others- but that makes sense because a tip could be connected to their service.

They use a special green wax prior which allegedly helps the process hurt less. This may be true to some slight regard, but waxing is waxing. It's never really going to be that painless.
My recommendation to any lady looking to reduce waxing pain is to not go near your period( biologically you'll be more sensitive and thus it'll hurt more) and to take a painkiller-just not aspirin since it's a blood thinner- about a half hour before. But those recommendations can be applied to any place, "special" green wax or not.

My favorite thing is the cleanliness of this place. They are spacious, clean and make you feel "high-end" for a very fair price.

This is the first time I go to Uni K Wax. I don't live in Gainesville but was here visiting. At first I was impressed with the aesthetics and the location, however their service was not very professional. Here is why:

1. The aesthetician did not introduce herself.
2. The appointment took 2X longer than usual (I did underarms and half legs- usually that takes about 35 min for me.)
3. The aesthetician didn't remove all of the hair
3. When the aesthetician finished she opened the door as I was putting my pants back on (HUGE NO NO!)
4. Lastly, the person I was paying to asked me how the appointment was and how much tip I want to leave right in front of the aesthetician so I couldn't be very honest with her standing right there and honestly I didn't want to leave a big tip since I didn't feel like the aesthetician did a great job.

I have been getting waxed since middle school and I honestly wouldn't come back to this place. In general the staff is very nice, just not very professional in my opinion.
