Attended a power reformer class as a first-timer through ClassPass. Sara was very kind and patient with me, helping me correct my form and offering easier alternatives. There's definitely a focus on strength in this class, but not too difficult for beginners!
There are cubbies to place your belongings, gendered restrooms, and a filtered water dispenser.
Pro tip: don't forget to bring your own grippy socks, which are required! Or you can purchase them there if you forget yours.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Bri E.Seattle, WA1895325Jun 21, 2022
The most amazing studio, I love Jaina Cole! She's such an excellent personal trainer. She will kick your butt into shape, but her reformer classes are even better. You leave feeling strong, confident and energized!
Bonus: Wilson! The sweetest French bulldog who makes working out so much fun. I absolutely adore him!
If you're looking for great classes in a safe, clean studio this is definitely the spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 3394249Aug 16, 2022
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!! I have worked out all my life but the type of workout this is doing to my body is insane. This is a total body workout and my weakness is def my core. At this gym I feel like I will reach my fitness goals much faster. The instructors are detailed, intense, motivating, and so so very nice. Special shout out to Jaina and Aaron. I started with an introductory course and signed on for another month!!! Thank you Tribe for giving me my motivation back.

Went to the Power Reformer class which was a great workout. Jaina Cole is an amazing instructor who gave personalized attention and made sure each posture and movement was correct. Definitely recommend checking them out.

I love mixing things up when working out, and I love that TRIBE has so many classes to choose from! Located right on Broadway and close to many of my favorite Cap Hill spots, TRIBE is a boutique fitness studio that offers small group classes for yoga, pilates, TRX, and the likes all throughout the day. The studio is made up of two spaces and has fewer amenities compared to most studios in the area, but provides just enough for folks looking to get in and get out after a quick exercise. So far, I've taken three classes at TRIBE through ClassPass and enjoyed them all.
1) Power Reformer: I love a good reformer workout and this one got me werkin the whole hour. We moved all around the set up and worked all the different parts of our bodies. Ashleigh was an awesome, friendly instructor and made sure I had each movement down to the detail for maximum benefits.
2) Aerial Conditioning: This class took place in the back room and any more than 4-5 people would've really crowded the space. For the two of us who were complete noobs at aerial, we definitely could've used a lil more love n support from Melanie. I spent the better part of every segment trying to stop myself from spinning around and un-wedging the silk out of my hip flexors but still had a fun time trying something new.
3) Strong & Lean: For a class that was also in the back room, I was surprised by how many exercises I got to do. I didn't love doing jump ropes by the bathrooms but was pretty happy with the other eight stations and variations that we went through. Our instructor Jaina was attentive whenever I asked for help and brought great, focused energy to class.
Looking forward to the next time I'm back!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - P C.Seattle, WA1927May 11, 2021
I went here for about a year. Classes were very expensive so I looked into getting a year pass. That was a LOT of money at the time and I was paranoid about gyms moving / going out of business / act of god closures without refunds. Though they treated me like I was slightly crazy, they stated that customers would be reimbursed if they were to move, so I went for it. My body changed visibly: biceps and popping veins for the first time in my life. Neat. And when I decided I couldn't go back during the pandemic, they were as good as their word with refunds.
Assorted notes:
Sometimes, there could be a bit of body negativity. Instructors using words like "saddlebags" or telling you (jokingly, but...) that if you couldn't do a move, you weren't strong enough, or their yearly "competition" having extra points for weight loss, but not anything gains-related. These generally weren't repeated when I called them out in instructor reviews, but even though their marketing is about "strength" there could be a bit of a vibe that was occasionally off putting.
Always very clean. Very nice, professional instructors, even if I didn't always vibe with everyone.
They put aerial on the pictures and sandwich board, but that is not offered any more.
Their yoga could be a bit entry-level and repetitive compared to going to an actual yoga studio, but generally is not so crowded.
The back-room strength classes seem just as effective as the fancier reformer classes and I kind of preferred them. But for the one-off prices, you're obviously paying for the reformer real estate no matter which class you pick.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amanda S.Philadelphia, PA543378606Mar 5, 2020
Just started going to Tribe using classpass. I really like the gym itself. Very clean, no odor, good temperature, bright and small class sizes. The instructors so far have been really good so far. (I find that some instructors will focus more on upper body while others on lower body. Not sure if consistently true)
I've been to the following classes:
Tone & Stretch: Very chill and low intensity. You probably will break the most mild sweat only. But this class is more about posture, stretching and connecting with your body. You will learn about all these extra muscles and ligaments that you never knew mattered. Julie teaches thus class and makes an effort to get to know everyone's names and really gives a lot of guidance throughout the class as she educated you on how to connect with every portion of your body.
Reformer Lite: This class is perfect for me. Challenging enough to break a sweat and get a good workout but not so challenging that it becomes somewhat dreadful and discouraging. This is the class where I think the instructor dictates what the "emphasis" will be. I had Aaron once and he focused a lot on upper body. I like his flow, clarity if instructions and style - encouraging and firm. However I think I would have like a bit more help/adjustment with form. As a lot of times I felt like I wasn't really activating the muscle right. I also had class with Susan and Kate, they were both also really good. Good tempo, motivating and clear instructions. For their classes, I realize there was more emphasis on lower body.
Overall I would highly recommend trying this place out. Their cancellation policy can be quite strict but I guess that's understandable.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Rachel L.Seattle, WA45101126Jan 18, 2020
I have been coming to Tribe for pilates since last summer and I don't think I'll be stopping any time soon. I love that they offer three different "paces" of reformer pilates instead of just one. I use the word 'pace' instead of levels because I don't necessarily think that one is easier than the other (could be slightly dependent on the instructor.) They offer a Power Reformer Lite, Power Reformer, and Reformer Pilates. I find that the Power Reformer class moves a little faster and has more cardio elements to get the heart rate up. If I want to focus on improving my form, i find myself signing up for a Reformer Pilates class. If I'm cravIng more of a sweaty workout, I will sign up for a Power Reformer class.
All the instructors here are fantastic but my favorite, if I had to pick someone, will have to be Susan Foley. She is extremely knowledgeable about the exercise and helping you perfect your form.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Julia T.Seattle, WA254521May 14, 2019
This might be the best gym in Seattle in terms of Group Fitness.
Not only are the instructors (I'm talking about you Mary & Alice) upbeat and knowledgable, they will kick your butt, all with a smile on their face.
TRIBE offers such a variety of classes there's no way you could be bored, not to mention the space is modern and clean. Classes are never overpacked and I can always find parking in the mornings.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 66338110Jul 23, 2018
Nice, clean, boutique studio with small group classes. I'll drop in time to time off Class Pass since I travel often. I've only done the Pilates Reformer classes. I've taken it from Ron, James, and Marlys. All are great instructors that provided good modifications for my scoliosis. I really liked Marlys teaching style and her playlists the most. I just don't think she teaches there anymore which is a bummer. Good core/full body workout burn!
