Surfside Spa

I booked a 90 min massage yesterday and was thrilled with the customer service. The therapist was amazing. I booked my wife before I left for the following day. I would highly recommend the spa.

I had such a great experience at Surfside Spa. All of the staff were very friendly. Carlie was amazing. My massage was perfection (and I am extremely picky when it comes to massages). The facial was also relaxing. 10/10 recommend!

This was a quick decision to get a massage while on vacation because I was experiencing some intense muscle pain. They were very accommodating and the staff was very cordial and helpful. My only experience that was weird was with the massage therapist. She talked the entire massage and she talked about her self and her boy friend and all his health issues. She was very different to say the least but very nice. The massage just didn't do the trick because it just wasn't deep tissue enough, but over all it was a pleasant experience.

Honestly, this place was great. . . Again! I've booked them for my birthday massage every year, and I'll be returning. They're so super professional & clean. 10/10 would recommend.

Tip! Surfside Spa is located inside Surfside Resort on the second floor - look for the resort signage from the road as the spa is not visible. I didn't realize this upon booking, so it took me a little while to locate. Parking is plentiful because it is in the resort.

I called two days in advance and easily booked an appointment for a massage. I asked about reiki, too, but that service is no longer offered even though it's advertised on Yelp. Note: you need to provide a credit card to hold your appointment.

The spa is small, so I could hear guests checking in and out from my service room even with the spa music playing. The coziness might be a concern for some in the midst of COVID-19. I did see staff members wearing masks although not everyone had their masks covering their noses.

My massage therapist was kind and gentle. My massage was relaxing, but wasn't overly restorative. I prefer a technique that relieves the tightness and soreness I experience from my desk job, so I requested medium pressure. Ultimately, I received light strokes, which were calming, but did not relieve the tension in my shoulders and back. Usually, the therapist will offer some kneading or tapping. I will say I enjoyed the aromatherapy - I chose eucalyptus.

You will be covered in oil at the conclusion of your appointment (understandable!), but there's not really a way to rinse off before redressing and heading home.

Overall, this was an okay experience, but didn't rise to the level of amazing.

The guys were on a fishing trip so my girlfriend and I were lucky to get a same day massage appointment!
Everyone was friendly and so helpful getting us in.
The massage room was set up nicely (beach view if the curtains were open), perfect lighting.
My friend said her massage therapist Judith P was great! She had a medium pressure massage.
My therapist was Paula. I asked for a deep tissue massage, she asked about any problems I've been having. The pressure was perfect, hot towels on my feet, attention to all of my knots. Paula even gave me the suggestions after to add yoga and stretches to my daily routine.

AMAZING!
I have never felt the need to go to the spa at the beach because I am normally am so relaxed as is, BUT I will never ever go to the beach without seeing Tara at Surfside Spa again.

I booked a few days out easily online and selected any therapist. I arrived about 10 minutes early and the blonde woman at the desk was so friendly and welcoming.

Tara was my massage therapist and was AMAZING. Everything about my massage was perfect. I will request her every time. She checked in several times throughout the massage in a relaxing way ( she has the most gentle and soothing voice) and clearly knew what she was doing. She gave feedback about tight areas or areas that she felt knots which I always appreciate. The 60 minute custom massage was a FULL 60 minutes.

I am so impressed, left so relaxed and happy, and will definitely be back. Thank you Tara!

I have NO idea how this "spa" is in business. My mom took me to get a facial and a massage for my birthday two weeks ago (September 1st) as we were in the area on vacation. We arrived on time for our appointment but they did not have us listed for the correct time, despite an e-mail confirmation and a phone/verbal confirmation the day before. We waited for almost an hour because of this and because one of the providers was running late- we should have taken this as a sign and left. The spa itself is dingy, dated, tiny and absolutely no amenities for guests (for example, the restroom was outside in a public access hallway).

Once we finally got in the room (we were in the same room together), we both stripped down and got into our beds. Please note there was only one robe available and almost nowhere to set our belongings, and no privacy for the two of us.

I had my massage first while my mom received her facial. I have had MANY massages in my adult lifetime and this one was not even remotely on par with those. There was one point where she literally just shook my leg a few times and others where she painfully kneaded into neck tissue (that pain lingered for days after)- not what I expect during a relaxing swedish massage. The providers BOTH left the room MULTIPLE times during our services, which was awkward and uncomfortable.

The facial was the absolute worst experience I've ever had. I was counting down minutes until it was over. It was almost as if the provider had been given $20 to go to Walmart to buy product and tools to use on her way into the building. She used a clarisonic and micro needling roller along with drugstore products and cheap amazon level oils. I had to tell her to stop using the roller because it was so painful how fast and hard she was rolling my skin. She never explained to me a single step of what she was putting on my face and was almost literally slapping it on. Her steamer ran out of water every 10 minutes and caused a loud beeping sound every single time. I would be absolutely shocked if she has had any formal training or licensing.

When the services were complete, we changed quickly and got out of there as soon as possible. When you book a luxury spa day, you should leave feeling beautiful and refreshed. We left feeling scummy, completely oiled up, taken advantage of, and creeped out. My skin was breaking out for a solid week and I still have shoulder pain from the experience.

I don't know if these technicians are new, or if this "spa" is a front for something else really going on, but I 100% recommend steering as far clear of this place as possible if you are looking for a reputable spa. I felt so horrible for my mom for spending the amount of money she did for the experience we received.
