Glutathione is an extremely powerful antioxidant. A combination of glutathione delivered with vitamin C, supposedly reduces melanin production.

Melanin is the pigment that gives skin it's color, and it is produced by the activation of an enzyme called tyrosinase. Glutathione binds to tyrosinase, which reportedly helps prevent the enzymatic pathways that produce melanin. Glutathione also reduces free radicals in the body, in turn preventing the activation of tyrosinase, which spurs the production of melanin.
