The quality of the classes are high and the instructor (Heather Hawk) makes sure to be attentive to both students who are live in the studio and those who are attending virtually.
Amazing teacher, amazing studio!
I've been taking class at Steps since 1999. It's one of my favorite studios! I much prefer taking Steps classes in person, but since I live in Northern California now with no access to professional level classes, I'm very grateful to be able to take Steps classes online. Some teachers are better than others at acknowledging the students on zoom. It's always nice to feel noticed. Steps has a good camera set up with one giving a front veiw and one giving a view from the back. Besides rare technical glitches that happen, taking class online is great!

Hussain's classes are fun and rewarding. He takes the time to break down steps and pays attention to all the students. His material is easier to digest than Laura's. Although I think Laura's classes are also full of fantastic content--I especially love that her choreos are rooted in history--I have more difficulty keeping up with her. I notice it's the same for some of the other students in class. It would be nice if there were two different levels of vernacular jazz classes. Thank you!

Heather Hawk’s ballet class is a beautiful and positive experience. She is creative, focused, adept at teaching, gives wonderful corrections and lots of positive feedback. There is no ballet teacher like her. She is one of a kind and the class MOVES. You are really dancing the entire time. Her choreography is gorgeous and always thrilling and just challenging enough. And the ability to take her class online because of Steps’ keeping the virtual option is a unique and treasured option. I am intensely grateful to Heather and Steps!❤️
