Starlight Dance Center

I'll update since I routinely use this place for private lessons. As of April 2016, I think they are the best ballroom studio around in northern NJ for those that use independent instructors. Often at times you'll have the floor to yourself (which is kept in great shape) and have exclusive use of the sound system. When the floor is busy we've often been allowed in the smaller rooms (I only dance Latin anyway) at no additional cost or detriment.

The only detriment to it now I see are the Friday night socials, which only allow newbies or those registered for their classes to go. Considering a few of my friends are in them and often go to this social, I'm kind of left out. On the other hand though, I could just as easily register for a class and go...

The rest of the socials are great, but they do cater to an older crowd then you would typically at a bar scene.

In summary: This is a great place for top dancesport competitors and people totally new to the ballroom scene.

I attended a princess party here today , for a friends party, so I can't speak for the instruction for dance. But what I will say , do not have your child's party here. The food was awful ( from what I heard from other families ) I was offered a few pieces of what was left in the trays ! And was told there was no more food. The lady just shrugged her shoulders when I asked did they really run out of food ! And then I added the parents should receive refunds because that was unacceptable ! How embarrassing to the guests .

I highly recommend Starlight Dance Center staff is really nice and welcoming. The venue itself is beautiful and the dance teacher Andres is very knowledgeable, funny and a great teacher. They also have great activities for all ages.

Took my daughter to this place today for a free introductory lesson. At the end, the receptionist charges us anyway, and pissed of everyone and stated at the end "this not the place for your daughter" ????

Agree with the previous post. Their receptionist is useless and rude. They also charge you to go to your child's recital where you stay backstage all the time, except for your kid's dance. I understand collecting money from other guests and family, but not sure why they charge Moms who do not even get a chance to watch.
On the positive side, we liked our teacher. However, the class is more like fun time as opposed to serious coaching. So, if you want your child to become good at dancing, I would look else where.
