My sister, mother, and I went here for a girl's day facial. The experience started out very pleasant. Booking was relatively easy, and the front desk staff were nice and welcoming. We filled out some lengthy electronic forms when we arrived to inform our specialists of our skin needs and service preferences. The forms seemed to be an unnecessary waste of time as none of us got our music preference, and my sister didn't get her massage strength preference. Also, we all opted for no talking during the facials, and only my specialist followed that request.
At the end of our facials, we discussed our experiences. I had an overall good experience but felt my specialist could've filled the time more. There was about 15 minutes in total in which she wasn't treating me. So, the 70-minute facial was only actually like 55 minutes or less. Also, I assumed the $30 boost would be added to my treatment, but instead, it took to place of another part of the facial.
My mother said she had a great experience. However, this was her first facial since childhood, so she had a low bar. She did, however, mention that she also felt the time was shorter than stated. The stated length of the brightening oxygen lift facial is what actually made us choose Spavia over other options, so we were quite disappointed they cheated us out of our time.
My sister had the worst experience. She said her specialist was very inexperienced, lacked confidence, and spent most of her facial filling up time by searching for areas to do unneeded extractions and causing more issues on her face. When she told the front desk of her negative experience, he did nothing to help her.
At nearly $200 each for our facials+boost selections, we didn't feel this place was a great value. The money would've been much better spent at a different spa.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Natasha J.Cincinnati, OH02Nov 9, 2023
This was my first time at Spavia. I had a Brazilian wax and a detox wrap.
- Brazilian wax was hell! She had cheap wax that made the waxing awful. Her warmer kept overheating where the wax was to hot . I notify her several times the wax was too hot. She was a nice girl just too inexperience. I am not completely wax she state we will get it all next time. Lol there won't be a next time ever! I came home to wax residue. Lol this place is a joke.
Next was my detox wrap as someone said earlier it's not your entire body that they put the product on . This girl Emily seemed inexperienced as well. The biggest complaint I had with her was her breath smelled sooo bad when she was giving me my scalp massage I swear I threw up in my mouth a couple of times.
I paid 219.00 today and I walked out of there just as stress as when I walked in. This place is in a great location but that's the only thing great about it.
Please find somewhere else to go .Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tracy C.Mount Vernon, IA451Apr 16, 2023
I would not recommend coming here. i had the Nourishing Antioxidant wrap. They did not do the whole body. My ankles to my knees, my upper arm to wrist and then back only. Then when came time to do my back at the end. I was asked to sit up so they could work the product into my back. Not relaxing at all. I also had to fill out a questionnaire one asked what kind of music I preferred, she played instrumental instead of the ocean like I had requested. It was honestly the most disappointing experience I've had at a spa and I've experience multiple spas across the country over the years. I hate to even complain. I don't want anyone to be misinformed like I was. It's fine if that's all you do for that treatment, but be more descriptive so we can make choices. So unfortunate.

Unfortunately I do not recommend this spa. Massage was more rubbing and tapping, hardly any kneading. We were in the couples room and my husbands therapist kept squeezing a bottle that was running out so the noise was very disruptive as well as her rolling her stool around and dropping the lotion bottle. My therapist said he was going to periodically check in and never did so i had to ask for more pressure. He at one time slammed a pillow next to my head and it was very disruptive. When he was massaging my feet he was carelessly throwing the lotion bottle in between my legs on the bed which was disruptive. I could also feel my therapist breathing in me which was not very pleasant. The relaxation room was fine but no one asked if we wanted anything so I had to ask for tea when someone happened to walk by. Definitely not worth the money spent and will not return unfortunately. Hardly any amenities in the shower. The light was out in the shower and there was no lotion even tho there was a sign next to the towels to enjoy their lotion. Overall not a relaxing experience unfortunately :/

I was a little nervous after reading some old reviews, but I had a great experience. The front desk staff was courteous and I had a very nice, relaxing facial. I would definitely use this location again.

Massage itself was great, melody did an excellent job with my deep tissue massage. Spa is clean and the amenities are simple but high quality. The actual experience itself is very good.
However, I am taking two stars off for the following reasons:
1. The website is confusing and unclear with regards to what you actually get from your membership. For the record, the Premier membership gets you an 80 minute relaxation massage but only a 60 minute deep tissue massage. The bring a friend discount cannot be used for deep tissue massages, relaxation only. Membership bought in the store charges monthly, but if you try to purchase online it charges a half years worth up front. They really need to clarify the fine print of each membership level and what's included. "Signature", "premier", and "ultimate" is not clear at all.
2. The lady at the front desk (gray hair) did not respond well to my questions after treatment. I wanted to purchase a membership and use my credit to the deep tissue massage. Her response was very anxious and I immediately felt unwelcome, as if my question was rude and unwanted. Her response was confusing, so I asked exactly how much I would be charged that day, so I could figure out if a membership would be worth it. She could only give a ballpark answer but told me that she could not tell me the exact amount. I swiped my card and didn't get a receipt or anything so I still don't know how much I was charged. Generally felt very uncared for. I then tried asking about the membership details and how the bring-a-friend perk works, and again her responses had this anxious, rushed and bothered tone which made me feel out of place.
I see other Yelp reviews saying the same thing and honestly I'm pretty easy going so I didn't expect it to be an issue. But I felt very uncomfortable with the front receptionist and didn't feel welcome to ask questions which were honestly quite reasonable. It added stress to the end of a visit that was supposed to relieve stress. Bottom line: If you're paying for a membership you should be welcomed to ask as many questions as you need to fully understand what you're getting and how it works. I'll be back because the massage itself was nice and I had already paid for my membership, but I hope the front door service is improved otherwise I may go elsewhere in the future.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - Marielle B.Mason, OH061Oct 20, 2022
I was given a massage as a birthday gift after running a marathon and let me just say WOW. It was my first massage but Julie, the owner, made me feel completely at ease from the moment I walked in the door. I had Monique as my therapist and she was amazing. Asked me my preferences and honored my requests. Was a WONDERFUL experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Lovely atmosphere and JULIE at the desk was very kind.
Nice Changing areas. Offer of tea or water. Robes and slippers. I filled out a form with music, pressure, level of conversation, lotion preferences--, all that part was great. The Massage Therapist was M-Jakob. Seems he did not read my intake form. Too chatty and in subjects that ignite stress rather than relaxation.
As a first time customer I should've been offered the 20% discount but because it was Martin Luther King day I was not. after the massage they should've given me this discount because I was less than satisfied and knew my therapist was talking too much because they heard him! With so many massage options, why should I return here?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer M.Central Business District, Cincinnati, OH34221Jan 2, 2021
This was my first visit to Spavia in Rookwood. I was gifted the "Relaxation Package" and unfortunately will never be a return guest. Tom was accommodating to scheduling my preferences but the overall lack of professionalism and experience from the majority of the staff was a disappointment. I'm addition, the female receptionist didn't acknowledge my presence, ask how my services were, nor say hello in return.
I need to get a massage from another spa to relax from that stressful experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
