My therapist, "Lu" was probably the best therapist I've ever had, and I've been getting massages for over 20 years as I've lived here and there around the country. She was communicative, and very thoughtful about what she was doing to address my problems. Her technique is unlike anyone else I've ever experienced. Most therapists work the muscle groups one way, but Lu also somehow knows how to, almost like "get under" a muscle and work it in a completely different manner than other therapists. She finds these tension points related to other areas and goes after them. She needs to train others; she says she has had the same training as every licensed therapist, but she's got something different, and I can't quite place my finger on it.
