I've been coming to Spavia for years and I simply love this place. It's so warm, inviting and relaxing - exactly what we all need, right? The customer service is beyond compare and the services are wonderful. I've had many a relaxing weekend topped off by one of their special facials or a great massage. The owners are so welcoming and really look after their clientele.
I've read some of the reviews below that were negative and with all due respect, I have to disagree. I started with Spavia in 2018, and I've never had a negative experience. I've had a monthly treatment for all these years and they've always been wonderful. Sure, sometimes there have been kerfuffles on timing (more than often my own fault!) but things have always been handled with the utmost care and respect by the staff.
Keep in mind that when you come to Spavia Pleasant Hill, you are also supporting small business - the owners are almost always onsite and take the time an effort to really know their customers on a first name basis. So like that old show Cheers, its nice to go someplace where everybody knows your name and are always glad you came... ;-)
I simply cannot recommend Spavia in Pleasant Hill more highly - not just because of the services which are terrific, but also because of the real, down-to-earth people that work there. I honestly felt cheated and regretful after leaving this place.
My appt was 1250-2 for premier deep tissue massage. There was nothing premier or deep tissue about it. My confirmation says to arrive on time or 15 mins early to fill out paper work if I didn't do so online. I filled it out online.
I arrive at 1247, the receptionist let me in, showed me around, I change and wait in the back waiting room.
Janell, my masseuse, brings me in around 1. She asks me what my main issues are and I said neck and my hands because I'm at the computer a lot. She said so upper body. I lay down and she works on my neck and back, which was mid. She barely worked in the rest of my body? Had I known that if I said my main concerns are my upper body and the rest of my body would be half a**ed I would've said my whole body hurts. She barely did anything to my hands even though I said it needs attention. The pressure was inconsistent throughout the whole session. The worse massage I've ever had. I left a tip because she still worked on me nonetheless but please don't get it confused with great service.
And then she said she was done. Ok. I look at the clock she had in her room and I said 1:51pm. I look at my phone and it said 1:47pm. 1: why is the clock almost a whole 5 minutes off from the real time. If I didn't have my phone, I wouldn't have known. 2: my session is scheduled until 2pm and you started at 1?
She was already waiting for me outside and when I came out she handed me a water and started walking toward the door with no guidance of follow me or anything. After I got dressed I head to the front and I asked the receptionist if it's normal for the session to end early even though I'm paying for 60 minutes of massage. She said I was scheduled for 1250-150. I understand that but she didnt start the massage until 1? Kierra was very nice and said she can give the feedback to the managers.
To not provide 60 minutes of service when 60 minutes of service was paid for, is dishonest. This was not a cheap visit that I splurged on myself for the holidays and the experience was horrible. Dont come here.

I am very sorry to hear that you feel cheated and regretful after your visit today. That is definitely not the type of service that we want to provide to our members and guests.
It appears you had 2 complaints with your visit today. The time and the quality of your service.
Our team member was correct in that your service was scheduled as a 60-minute service, from 12:50-1:50. We block the schedule for an extra 10 minutes to allow our specialist to prepare for their next guest. We do expect all members and guests to get their full 60-minute service time. And thank you for completing your welcome and massage forms online, it helps to expedite your check in. I checked the security footage, and I saw that you walked in at 12:50, and our team took you back to the changing area immediately. Your therapist waited for you to change and took you back to the treatment room at 12:58. Yes, based on your time of arrival, your service did not start right at 12:50. And I do see that your therapist finished your service at 1:48, a few minutes early. With the slightly late start and the slightly early finish, I do agree and understand how your service was shorter than it was supposed to be, but it was partly due to your own arrival time and not intentional or dishonest as you assert. I can guarantee you that is not how we operate.
Regarding the quality of your service, your therapist is a very seasoned therapist. But not every massage therapist's style is compatible with all members and guests. She may not have been a great match for you. We have a full team of specialists that we can pair you with. I will be following up with your therapist to hear more about your service and will follow up with you directly on next steps.

I went in for a rejuvenate package and wasn't impressed with the massage and facial I've received. I was expecting a lot more for the price paid.

Got a massage and facial here and it was very relaxing! As you walk in, they check you in (reception & store) then lead you to the locker room. Locker room is small, but includes one shower, two sinks, a small dressing room and a chair. Then there is a waiting room, also small, but has 4 chairs and tea and water. A plus is they have the neck warmer pillow things. I am assuming they don't have that many rooms or take that many clients at a time, so they don't need a big waiting area. This wasn't a big deal for me because the 2 times I was in the waiting room, there was only one other person there waiting for their service. Would definitely come back!

The last visit I had the pillowcase during the massage was not laundered, there were visible drool or paste marks on it. When pointing it out, the massage therapist didn't have any others so she put a towel over it.
I have also found that the membership program is both deceptive and overly complicated to get as much money from you as possible. You think signing up for something like that you would get better treatment, but it was quite the opposite. When trying to cancel they try and delay the process out to charge you another month, and then cancel any "credits" IE money you have given them so that you cannot buy anything from them. Hello Kari,
Our membership policies have been the same since we opened our business in 2018, and our members have enjoyed their memberships for their monthly Massage or Skin Care services. We have found over the years that those members who do not take the time to fully understand their membership benefits, or those who are not able to manage their schedules or their memberships appropriately tend to get frustrated. We listened to your phone call from yesterday and reviewed your visit profile, and it is clear that you do not fully understand how our program works, and you have several rollover service credits on file from not maintaining regular service visits. We understand your frustrations, and although self-imposed, it's a shame that you are using Yelp to lash out at us and tarnish our reputation.
For any readers of this review, I'm happy to explain both of Kari's frustrations below to help provide clarity on our very clear and long-standing policies.
You joined us as a member on November 2nd of 2024 after your maternity massage. You enjoyed you massage so much that you decided to join us as a member to receive membership pricing that day and on your future services throughout your pregnancy journey. We were excited about your coming back to see us monthly. However, your next visit was not until December 5th, then you called yesterday to schedule a service for February. We were able to schedule you for tomorrow February 2nd. And interestingly, you scheduled with the same therapist that supposedly provided you with a dirty pillowcase (which I'll address later). At this point today, you've been a member with us for 4 months but have only had 2 visits, so you have 2 rollover credits on file.
Now because you are behind on using your service credits, you asked to schedule an underarm waxing with your February maternity massage. You voiced that it was your 'expectation' that you could use a 'partial service credit' to pay for a waxing and just allow these partial credits to build up like a bank account. This is not how our membership works, it never has, and we could not operate like that just for your situation. Membership service credits are able to be used for Essential, Premier, or Ultimate Massage or Skin Care services. And all members receive 10% off all waxing services. These benefits are very clearly explained on our website and in your membership agreement. And although our Guest Advisor team member did a great job explaining your membership benefits to you, you took issue with that and asked to cancel your membership. You also passive-aggressively said that you were going to 'report us to your bank', and we do not know why. You've agreed to all charges that are on your account.
With regards to your ancillary complaint about the pillowcase not being clean. All linens are laundered on site after every service. And we have the highest integrity when it comes to sanitation and cleanliness. In fact, many of our guests and members often comment that they appreciate how clean and well maintained our spa is.
Our policies are not fraudulent or 'sketch' as you assert, they are very clearly understood when you take the time to understand them. And yes, we have a 30-day cancellation policy. Our ex-members actually enjoyed that aspect of the cancellation policy because it gave them time to use any unused credits that may be available for use if they've gotten behind, just like in your case. So I'm glad that you were able to schedule another maternity massage for Monday 2/3 (with the same therapist who supposedly provided you with the dirty pillowcase). I'll likely be in the spa at this time, so I'll make sure to say hello to you before or after your service and wish you well.
I hope you have a clearer understanding now of our longstanding policies. And with this understanding, perhaps you would like to update or remove your review. But I'm happy to answer any additional questions that you may have. Congratulations again, and we wish you well through the remainder of your pregnancy and with the birth of your new child.

I haven't been to Spavia in a while and was excited to try this place again. I was overall not impressed.
First of all, I booked with a different masseuse (Sandy) than who performed the massage (Kachi) and was not alerted of the change. Not a big issue usually, however my masseuse was not very good, definitely a bit inexperienced. Her stomach was also growling throughout the service which was a bit distracting, especially because I could also hear sounds from outside the building the entire time. Overall the massage was relaxing but a very subpar experience. I do love the waiting room, it's very tranquil so that was a plus for me. Aug 28, 2021Previous reviewMy boyfriend and I LOVED our time at Spavia. We were both very overdue for massages and I was eyeing this place for a while. We loved the relaxation rooms, and the locker room was really nice as well. We both had Signature Massages, I had Anna and bf had Katia. Anna was great, she tackled my problem areas and really released a lot of tension from my shoulders and upper back. My bf really enjoyed his massage with Katia as well. I/we will definitely be back, and will also try a facial next time!

This review is purely based on customer service I received over the phone when booking my appointment***
After finding a gift card I received about a year ago for a couples massage, I decided to call and see if by any chance they had availability for this weekend (3 days in advance). The employee who answered was super sweet and told me that typically they do book up 2 weeks in advance for weekends, but offered to add me to a cancellation call back list to which I agreed to. She called me back the next day and let me know there's an opening! I had to call back a few times since I wasn't prepared, but she was super patient and still provided the best customer service despite me probably being the most annoying customer today.
