Really great place. Saw Stacy for a last minute deep tissue massage. I appreciated that she listened to where the pain was, and made adjustments accordingly. She was kind and very professional.

SUCH a hidden gem. I had the best facial of my life here. The space is cozy and small but the service is just amazing. My skin has never been so clear and glowy- and that's coming from someone who is getting over some scars from cystic acne of years past. I don't live anywhere near spa thayer but you can bet your booty I'll be back!

Made a day of appointment on a weekend away. The spa is calm, staff incredibly kind and accommodating. Deborah, the owner, was the esthetician that day. So professional and personable, and she was able to hone right in on my skin problems and recommend how best to proceed. She's so experienced and was helpful about suggesting changes I can make in my routine and make up without product pushing at all. I trusted her advice completely. I wish I didn't live 2 hours away!

My boyfriend and I were visiting Narragansett for a week long vacation and ran into some rainy weather... we passed Spa Thayer and decided to book appointments for deep tissue massages. We both were lucky enough to have Brooke as our massage therapist (we went one after the other). If you like a firm massage, she's your girl - I never wanted my session to end. She was professional, friendly but not too talkative, and has hands of magic!!! The spa is clean, the music was perfect, and everything down to the receptionist who greeted us was delightful. Plus - you cannot beat the price - $85 for an hour deep tissue massage. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Deb consistently provides a tranquil environment and gives a wonderful facial. She is very knowledgeable about skin types and the best skin treatment for you personally. I get the Lactic Facial. I am a happy repeat client and strongly recommend you check it out!

I got the "lactic plus peel" facial just yesterday, and I see fabulous results already. A real, visible glow - my skin is also smoother after just one facial. Kelsey was fantastic - the spa is beautiful & clean!

I came to Spa Thayer when on vacation in RI hoping for a nice, relaxing experience. Booking the appointment was easy, the staff were very friendly, and when I arrived the place looked super cute and relaxing.
Unfortunately, my treatments were disappointing. I got a facial and a massage - the facial was okay, but she didn't really do much in terms of extractions. I usually like this somewhere in the middle - I don't want someone squeezing my face for an extended period of time, but I want to get a good cleansing. I will say this was pretty relaxing though, minus the huge AC unit that was in the room making a bunch of noise the whole time.
I got my massage next, and at this point the AC was turned off because the room was very cold. In retrospect I think I would have preferred to keep it on and deal with being cold because without it, I could hear everything going on throughout the spa. Doors slamming repeatedly, phones ringing, everyone in the reception and manicure area. It made it impossible to relax throughout the entire 90 minute massage so I was pretty disappointed. The massage itself was just okay - it certainly wasn't bad, but not the best I've had at all whatsoever.
This all being said, I have definitely had my fair share of spa experiences in the past and while I certainly do NOT consider myself a spa snob, I have been to places much more pricey and perhaps that's why I'm used to a quiet environment. Although in general, I do think that someone paying $200 for spa services should have a quiet environment without paper-thin walls.
I chose Spa Thayer because it was cheaper than my other option, and unfortunately I regretted it and wished I paid a little more for a better experience.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jaime N.Boston, MA242426Apr 12, 2017
My husband and I decided to "Baby-Moon" in Narragansett for a few days which included booking a prenatal massage at Spa Thayer. I do wish that they told me while they can do a prenatal massage, they don't have the appropriate table to do so. I am 34 weeks along and ended up having to have my massage on my side :( thats a real bummer considering its the only massage I chose to have this pregnancy. Beautiful spa, very nice staff, just disappointed that it wasn't clearer about the lack of equipment to properly do a prenatal massage.

I went to Spa Thayer because my parents got me a gift certificate. I specifically was looking for help with pain in my lower back, which I specified on my online booking application, and on the paperwork I filled out when I arrived. Maybe I'm used to more fancy spas at hotels, but I was somewhat disappointed. This place is small...very small. When I entered, there was no complimentary tea, or place to relax, just a very small waiting room and a receptionist who wasn't very friendly. The one chair for someone having their hair done is right in the view of anyone sitting in the waiting area. Eventually, my masseuse came out with a very quick and impersonal introduction. She brought me into the massage room which was also unimpressive and rather cramped with a very LOUD industrial fan going. Eventually during the massage I had to ask her to turn it off because it was THAT distracting. I couldn't hear the calming music or sound effects she had going. Things seemed to improve once the fan was off, and I will admit she did a wonderful job on my neck and shoulders. I also loved the hot towels. But like I said, I had specifically mentioned that my lower back needed a lot of work and I feel like I never felt relief in that area. To be fair, I did not ask her to return there during the massage...I was hoping she'd do it herself, and she never did. I paid for the medley massage, which is supposed to include both swedish and deep tissue. Instead, I wish I had gotten a full deep tissue, because this one was way too timid for what I really needed. All in all, like I said, she did a really nice job on neck and shoulders, but I feel like that's all she specialized in. I walked out (or should I say limped out) still just as much in pain as I was when I walked in. A massage I received two weeks prior (which was done in half the time) relieved the pain in my back and loosened my hips, so I was rather unimpressed by this one. I will say though, it's much cheaper than what I've paid for more lavish spas...so maybe you get what you pay for?
