The Spa Scottsdale: I was in town for business, but scheduled a 2-1/2 hour spa appointment. I arrived early so they put me in the relaxation room, offered me tea and had delicious chocolate brownies. My 90 minute massage with Karen was sublime! So relaxing yet therapeutic. I asked for concentration in a couple of areas and Karen did a terrific job of reaching everything with special attention to my problem areas. So good.
Next was my facial. Sorry, I don't remember her name, but after scrubbing, extractions, mask, etc she left my skin glowing. My typically sensitive skin was not even red. Almost a week later I still see the difference in my complexion. When I was checking out I told the woman at the front desk I couldn't wait to write a review. I highly recommend this spa. For reference, I am from NY and regularly get massages and facials. The service here is exceptional.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrea B.Phoenix, AZ274251Aug 19, 2019
Unfortunately, this review is for the ownership of the company and not the massage therapists themselves. I have had some wonderful massages here and Savannah gives one of the best massages I've ever had.
However, I've been a member of Kalologie since 2012 and have referred other members to them as well. My rate since 2012 has been $45/month. Again, 7 years a client.
In April 2018 I had a baby and had some complications from the birth and also the spa moved 9 miles farther away from me roundtrip. It was just harder for me to get there. I had at least 9 massage passes that had stockpiled. I called and spoke with the owner and asked if after 7 years, if I could simply pause my account for a while and get caught up.
I didn't want to cancel, I just needed some time to get caught up. She reluctantly said yes. Gee thanks!
A few months went by and I began using my passes. An auto renewal came through for for $60. I didn't mind the auto renewal starting again, but for $60? I called and spoke with the owner Rene again and she was terribly rude and said that all "suspended accounts" are subject to a rate increase.
I said what? My account wasn't suspended, I just asked for a pause after having a baby and you guys moving up north and farther away so I could get caught up. I told her you didn't even tell me there would be a rate increase!
She said "I don't make it a regular practice to inform clients of rate increases."
WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTTT.
She then said she was cancelling my membership effective immediately (WHAAAAT), putting the credits I have on a gift card and mailing them to me. Of course, the massages would then be at a higher price. Is this lady for real?
I told her I didn't want to cancel I just wanted an honest conversation about what was going on. I firmly believe she used my request to pause my account as an excuse to hike my rate. I would describe her practices as deceptive and fraudulent.
Even better, she has NEVER sent the gift card! And she has continued to charge my card $60/month until I finally got on the phone with my credit card company and blocked them. I am currently disputing the charges.
I say skip Kali spa. The new location is also dark and weird with lots of fake flowers. Way too many beautiful places in the valley with great service.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Malissa H.Waddell, AZ4361313Jul 6, 2019
Horrible customer service! The first time I came in I booked with jasmine who I loved ! I made my appointment two weeks out with jasmine again. I double checked my appointment 2 days prior to make sure jasmine would be there . I drove 1 hour from Waddell to get there (as I had told the owner over the phone while booking) when I arrived the owner said she had booked it for a different day and jasmine wasn't there that day. She sent me in with another girl who seemed very new and quite unprofessional . I brought my son in who minded his own business in the corner with my phone . I thanked her for allowing my son to come in and tipped her very generously even though she did a rushed shotty job on my face . I referred other people to this clinic and spent a few bills here. I booked my appointment and got called into work the same day ! I work at a busy law firm so saying no isn't really an option with time sensitive documents. They have no re booking fees listed on their site but charged my card 50 dollars because I could not make it! Seeing other stories makes me worry , they've done it to other customers! these people have my card number saved on their computer! I never had a membership or reason for my card to be saved! It's a card reader , but they obviously have it linked to their computer to steal money (account membership or no membership ) .
I've never paid for anything on a card reader and all of my information is sent to the merchants computer! These people are frauds and the owner is a fake snob ! Bringing my business elsewhere and letting my girls know about this slumlord.
Furthermore , in response to your comment . Take a look at your own website where it clearly states that your establishment is a "walk-in-clinic". I posted pictures and screenshots on here to clarify . No appointment is "guaranteed". Please do not lie to satisfy clientele, I booked my appointment last month in person (with you)right after my session. I told you I didn't like the job she did and you even pulled me outside so we could talk about getting me booked for jazmine at the beginning of the month. I never called yesterday but received a call from your office today about the appointment. I told the girl I could not make it because I was called into work last minute for high priority and was charged a $50 fee. Take in mind no walk-in-clinic should have any business charging such outrageous fees, especially if they aren't found on the website or brochure. When I came in today you couldn't even find where it said $50 and decided to tell me the normal price is $75 (like I was getting some sort of deal or something ) laughable. What was really hilarious is when you couldn't find that "fine print for fees" anywhere , and your face turned bright red and yelled "you're not getting your money back". What a peach! What you emailed me has obviously been written up after the incident considering the fee written up is in the amount of the $50 you charged me rather than the high price of $75 ... I apparently received some sort of smoking deal. But don't worry I've got screenshots of every link and page on the site with dates if you ever do decide to change it. The girl did not do a good job, in fact it was horrible for the price I paid, which is why you pulled me aside to talk about booking with jasmine . I was obviously unhappy, the only thing I can compliment about, was her allowing my son to sit in and watch my phone. Besides that, the service was completely mediocre. With a better perspective, it seems to be that service surely does not keep up with that price tag. Good riddance .Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley D.Scottsdale, AZ186192Oct 16, 2018Updated review
Updating my original review. Rene reached out to me and was super apologetic about the fact that I wasn't happy with the service and wanted to show me what a hydrafacial should really be like. She scheduled me with Jasmine who was AMAZING. I decided to pay for an addon to my service and got dermaplaning done as well. I've done my own at home and wanted to see how that compared (she did a great job but for me personally I'd just do that part myself since I do have high end tools that I bought and I get a similar result). If you don't know what you're doing you could end up doing a lot of damage to your skin so I would recommend seeing a professional.
This time around my face was steamed and she did some manual extractions first since my concern was blackheads and breakouts. She explained what each solution was in the hydrafacial and got started right away. She focused on the areas where she thought my skin needed a little extra attention. She then did a really nice cooling/refreshing sheet mask at the end (something that I didn't get in the first service either). This time I noticed a definitely improvement in the clarity of my skin, I didn't expect all of the blackheads to be gone and I try to be realistic with my expectations but it was very noticeable. I think it would take quite a few sessions before I could really get rid of ALL of them, that said I have very large pores and it could be that my skin will never fully look black head free... thanks genetics...thanks Mom lol.
Thanks Rene for reaching out and making it right... this is definitely what I was hoping my hydrafacial experience would be like. I appreciate the great customer service and will recommend Kalologie to friends.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Oct 4, 2018Previous reviewI bought a groupon for a hydrafacial (the groupon stated it was a value of $250 for $156), I noticed on their menu of services after my appointment that they only charge $148 for their hydrafacials so that's a little disappointing because it's false advertising for sure. You think you're getting a deal but you're really not. They don't show prices on their site, but I have the pamphlet at home and I'll add a picture later.
The owner was really really nice, and so was my esthetician, both were easy to talk to and personable and I really liked them. The owner said I would LOVE the facial and I was really hoping to because it had been so long (it's been more than 15 years, so I was hopeful that I'd see some sort of improvement). I have a lot of blackheads and I had the start of some hormonal acne after going off the pill.
I watched a lot of videos on Youtube about Hydrafacials so I had some expectations going into the whole thing. I saw before and after pictures where people's blackheads were SEVERELY reduced, almost non-existent. After my appointment I looked in the mirror and noticed that there was absolutely no difference in the clarity of my skin. I also expected the normal face steaming session and the high frequency machine thingy after (I had seen it on all the hydrafacial videos on youtube to help prevent future breakouts) but she didn't do either of those. My mom used to work in a spa and I was surprised that my entire service was done in very dim lighting; the facials I've had were done under a focused bright light, the kind with the magnification like at the dentist almost) so that they could see clearly what they were were treating and really see problem areas.
The owner also told me the facial takes about an hour but when I got into my car I noticed it had only been 45 minutes, so yeah I feel like that wasn't worth almost $200. Between a 5 minute consultation with the esthetician, a few minutes to undress and lay and wait for her to come back, then getting dressed again and checked out at the end, the service couldn't have been more than 30 minutes tops. I was a little red for an hour after the appointment so I decided to give it a chance and see if I noticed anything in the days that followed.
It's been a couple weeks now and I'm disappointed that I spent all that money, plus a 20% tip, on the facial. I see no difference in the clarity of my skin, the exfoliation from the peel didn't seem any better than what I do myself when I do my own dermaplaning or chemical exfoliation. I started a gentle acne treatment a few days following my appointment and that was what really started taking down some of the larger breakouts on my face so I don't think I can attribute it the facial just because I only used it on the worst of acne (on my cheekbones) and the rest of my skin is pretty textured. Overall, I'm just kind of sad because people seem to love this treatment so much and I was really hoping to be able to look in the mirror and be confident enough to go out without makeup but I still have all the ugly blackheads that I did before. Bummer. I was hoping I could just write a really glowing review because I obviously wanted to be happy with the whole experience but I wasn't. :( - Kelly B.Phoenix, AZ4322514Feb 9, 2019
I would highly recommend going to see Jerry Sanstead. He is a 10 of 10 and knows what he's doing! His corrective techniques are unique and unsurpassed with a background of intricate training. As an athlete I will admit more often than not, I don't pay attention to what my body is trying to tell me. I've been dealing with back pain since I was in my early 20's and at 23 was told I would need major back surgery to replace my tailbone and have metal rods and screws up each side of my spine. I'm now in my mid 30's & still no back surgery. I've never had such amazing results. I feel like I finally found someone that can correct all my issues associated with my connective tissue damage and get my body back on the path it lost so long ago!!! MANY THANKS Jerry!
Aside from that Kalologie is beautifully decorated, extremely clean and has extremely welcoming staff from the moment you open the door! Thanks to everyone for being a part of such a fantastic spa!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jonathon K.Tempe, AZ22946Sep 17, 2018
Short version: Great customer service, an even better massage, and they have adorable little dogs hanging out in the front room!
Longer version: I got a little overzealous at the gym and ended up injuring my back, so on my lunch break I went to the Chiropractor that's next door. As I was leaving the Chiropractor's office, I noticed a big sign in the window at Kalologie 360 that said "Massage" and I thought maybe a massage would help to loosen any knots or tightness I had as a result of my back injury.
I walked in and was promptly greeted by the owner, Rene. As I was already 20 minutes into my hour lunch break, I asked her if I could get a 30-minute massage. She explained that they don't offer a 30-minute massage, but then very nicely offered to give me 30-minutes at no cost and just asked that I leave a good tip for the girl who was going to give me the massage. I was really surprised by her offer, because it's rare that someone is willing to gift you their services, but she saw an opportunity to make both myself and her employee very happy, so I gladly accepted!
I left feeling relaxed and really grateful for such an awesome experience. I will definitely be back for the full 60-minute massage next time!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 23, 2018
Coming to Kalologie was one of the best decision I have ever made!!! Honestly I have gotten the best massages of my life at this place. Rene the owner is the sweetest person ever and I loved calling and scheduling my appointments and getting to chat with her! I know that she only hires the best massage therapists so I am sure everyone is excellent but I highly recommend you make an appointment with Stacey if you can. I have never said this about anyone but she is a healer!!!! I have come in with back pain and she has made me feel 1000x better. She is also just a nice human and I am lucky I found her! My advice would be to get the membership. It is a great deal and you have something to look forward to every month! Also there is not contract to cancel so why not?!

I was a member of this spa for 5 years. My husband and I have had a specific rate for this time. However, after a new owner came to run this spa things went downhill quickly.
A week ago, I was surprised to see an increase in my fee on my automatic payment. I was very unhappy about this because no one notified me. Upon calling the owner, she informed me she sent out an email stating the change. I did not receive this email, nor did my husband on a separate account. Interesting, I thought. Why wouldn't we have received the email? The owner's response was, "You have had the cheaper rate for 5 years." SO?????? You DO NOT raise someone's rates without telling them.
I then asked her to forward me this email. The inept owner then told me she couldn't find her email that was supposedly sent out to ALL of her contacts.
WHO WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIND THIS EMAIL??????? There is no way to find it because it does not exist. After bringing up this very valid question, she asked me if I wanted to cancel my membership.
YES, I want to cancel. I want to have nothing to do with this place. What a sad way to practice business. Way to keep your loyal customers!!!
***BTW, I would have paid the increase if this had been handled properly. Sad...
And one more thing, I am more than happy to find a new establishment that can do an honest business. This woman is a liar with zero integrity.
**It is very important to point out ONCE AGAIN that this owner could not provide me with a notification email that was supposedly sent. I did not delete any email nor was it in my spam mail. I received emails that were statements each month. Why would I miss THIS????
BECAUSE SHE NEVER NOTIFIED ME. That was the ENTIRE problem. She lied and displaced blame. What a pathetic business owner.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Briana B.Peoria, AZ419274Jan 28, 2018Purchased a Yelp Deal
I'm going to start out with three stars until 48 hours post treatment of Botox. I had a facial and Botox completed today and it turned out to be a fairly good experience. Loved the knowledge given during the facial. It was my first one and for some reason I thought there was more scrubbing involved in a facial but at least it came with a nice massage. The water steamer did spit steaming hot water on my chest and the guy was super nice and apologetic about it(still recommend a replacement for future clients as some may not be as laid back as I am and this hurt).
The nurse giving the Botox injections was amazing. Her honesty rocks. Let's just hope her injection sites turn out as awesome as she was with knowledge and bluntness. I'll update with changes good bad or indifferent by week two.
Besides the burning hot water on my chest I'd say the only other real adjustment that needs to be made is the front staff. Sweet guy but when I called he knew nothing of the specials and had to ask around and then lost some paperwork I had already filled out. At the end pricing became a little difficult because of the promotion on here. Check out turned out to be 10 mins longer than it should have and then he still had to call me on my drive home to get code again.
I'm sure he would be wonderful with a little more knowledge and training as he was super nice.
Overall, I'll be back to visit both I'll just make sure to print coupons and make sure the water isn't spitting during my facial.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jessica J.Naples, FL1815031Jul 8, 2018
Maya did one of the best facials I've ever had. She was very professional and did a wonderful job. Very clean spa, smells wonderful, and would definetly come back next time I'm in town!
