Spa at the Madison has been servicing the community of North Burnaby since 2001. Prior to that, business owner Rena has been working as a skin therapist and esthetician in Burnaby for almost 20 years. " I love the industry and the opportunity to evolve with the growing needs of our clients". Where day spas started out as manicure and pedicure salons, we now know we can leave those services to the actual nails bars, and use our expertise and training to give customers the opportunity to find high end services right in there own back yard. With the introduction of services like the Skin Remodeling System, which uses technology to deliver amazing rejuvenating results to the skin, without being invasive, and the Universal Contour Wrap, to help clients achieve detox and inch loss while relaxing, we can really focus on these specialized treatments, producing instant and visible results that last. We also carry a variety of professional skin & body care products to preserve your results at home. In recent years we have really had the opportunity to focus our skills and expertise to establish ourselves as a highly professional boutique size spa, that allows for a cozy and quaint feel, while still offering higher end services usually found in bigger spas, attached to a bigger price tag. Our size allows us to focus on giving the client the best value for their money. You don't pay for the frills at Spa at the Madison but for the expertise and high end treatments we offer…

The worst Brazilian waxing service I've gotten. It's nothing personal, strictly based on a service performance. I've been with so many waxers in my life so far probably at least 10-15 and I've never felt this much of pain, also it took such a long time! I don't know the waxer's name but she looks pretty young and after getting waxing I am honestly not sure if she actually knows how to do Brazilian waxing properly. It took about 40 mins which is doubled amount of any other waxers I've had, SUPER painful, and didn't even get rid of all hair. I don't know if it's only her or the wax they use. It feels like some white glue you use for carpentry.. I had to rinse it off right after I get home and it still feels weird. She pulled same areas of my skin several times and it hurts SO MUCH. I've never left any negative reviews before or leave not generous tip after getting any kind of services but I really don't want anyone to have the same time-wasting, super painful experience like I just had so I had to write a review. I don't know about any other services but for a Brazilian waxing don't ever go there. I'd attach a photo to prove my point if it wasn't my private part.

Edit: I don't really need a complimentary treatment since I don't really like the wax your shop uses but if you could get me a little portion of skin soothing gel that'll be great. The part that I got waxed off hurts so much it bothers my sleep...

Rena is an excellent, detail oriented aesthetician. I have been plagued by unwanted hair on my face for years and after many months of electrolysis, it is virtually gone! Best results ever. Rena gets great joy zapping every last hair, is extremely thorough and the results have been fantastic. All the services I have had at the spa are exemplary. We are lucky to have this gem in The Heights!!

At the recommendation of a friend I got my eyelashes done here. I wanted a very natural look, as it was my first time but I'm also very fair in skin tone and eyelashes/eyebrows, and I wasn't too sure what heavy black lashes would look like! My esthetician was pretty much on time (although I thought I must be at the wrong place since the front door was locked to the spa on a Saturday at 4:30!!) and she briefly asked me what I wanted before I lay down and she set to work.
In esthetics school we are constantly reminded to have fresh breath as estheticians, or it will be the first thing that ppl complain about. Sadly, I realized that that is right! I do wish she had brushed her teeth after lunch or had some mints or even mint gum... I do seem to be sensitive to unpleasant smells though, so I tried to let this go. My esthetician worked away on my eyelash sets, but did stop a few times to check her phone and to respond to messages. She said it was her boss, but it just didn't seem very professional to keep texting, regardless of who it was that was buzzing her phone. I felt awkward lying there while she responded, even stepping away from the bed and letting me know "she had to get this" would have made me feel more comfortable.
Eyelashes. They were done pretty quickly, it took about 45 minutes. And it wasn't what I expected.... she upgraded me to the "full glam set" which I think she was 5D. I really didn't like them .... I wanted something much less showy and I felt bad since I knew she thought she had done me a special service (I was only charged for the natural look, less $$$). But I didn't love it at all. On my right eye the lashes were even, but super curled, not much length, just volume. But my left eye wasn't quite as uniform, the lashes looked more "clumpy" on the left eye, and she admitted it was tricky applying the fakes to my blonde natural lashes. I didn't feel that the eyes matched, the lashes on the left eye were obviously adhered slightly crooked. That was Saturday. I asked and we went over what NOT to do to the lashes, like rub or scratch or pull or tug or sleep on them or use oily products etc. And I paid and left. But by Tuesday, most of the lashes on my left eye had fallen out, with only a couple stragglers remaining. I had had them applied for a vacation, and I was super disappointed that they only lasted three days given that I was maintaining them well.
I ended up washing the right eye with an oil based cleaner to remove them, as the left eye was almost completely void of lashes.
I know this esthetician is good, and has rave reviews and a steady clientele that love her and I'm sure she's great for them. For me, it I wasn't happy. And I learned a big lesson for when I am providing services to my future clients- always give the clients what they ask for. It was nice to be "upgraded" but it wasn't what I wanted. And I wished they had lasted longer. $120 on that experience!

I'm a Richmond girl and I have been making trips back here for the past 2 months! I endure that 45 min drive to Spa at the Madison because it's that good for my lashes!

It all started with a Groupon for the Fluttery and Fabulous eyelash extension set ($100). My eyelash stylist was Aija. She was wonderful to my newbie lashes. She made sure I was comfortable, explained everything she did and she was so careful and gentle, I would have never known she was working on my lashes. I appreciate the gel pads that go under your lower lashes, which help prevent those pesky tweezers from jabbing your flesh.

The whole process was 1 hour. We chatted a bit in the beginning but I just enjoyed the process of closing my eyes and relaxing to the songs that played lightly in the background.

After I sat up from my mid-afternoon nap, I awoken to a beautifully created set of new lashes. The lashes looked natural yet dramatic enough to be noticed, there was no irritation from the glue, I saw no clumps... essentially they looked like lashes I had grown myself! (A majority of people always ask if the lashes are real... because it looks that natural!) The extensions are synthetic mink - to prevent allergic reactions and bacterial growth.

After that first set, I visit every 2-3 weeks depending on how much I want refilled. (2 week refill is 30 mins ($35) and 3 week refills ($55) is an hours worth of eyelash refill time).

In the end, it's a slightly pricey indulgence but it feels so good to wake up with gorgeous lashes without putting on mascara or using that heated lash curler). If you want to try them out, this is the place to go! The prices are comparable if not way cheaper than other eyelash extension places - plus I know Aija will do an amazing job and I'll never have to worry about too much glue, double lashing, or questions in cleanliness like some other places I have read reviews on.

This spa is mini but it has a lovely washroom and they offer you tea is you need to wait or while you're having your mani done. Bonus, lots of free street parking!

Their lash tint didn't even work on me. She did it twice on my lashes left it on for 5 min each and it looked the exact same.. she said it was because I had black lashes..... well maybe she should have advised before hand. Had to pay $20 anyway. Wouldn't do it again

Checked reviews on here and I was hoping to come here regularly. Had a young girl provide services but I can't recall her name. Firstly, this was the messiest wax I've experienced. She left so much wax on me after she was done that even after showering and bathing, the wax would hardly come off. Also, I could tell that she did not know how and when to hold the skin to ensure seamless removal. The worst part was that I was in there for an hour and so much hair was missed. I've never had any problems with having this much hair left over, it's like she ran out of time and decided to service the next client. I had to go somewhere else to get it done again so needless to say I ended up spending more to fix her work. I gave a star for not double dipping the stick. I do not recommend coming here.

Rena and the girls are amazing, they are all well trained, professional and have great personalities. I have been going to Spa at the Madison for the last 4 years, I love getting a set of quality Bio Sculpture Gel nails done here. They are currently carrying Luxio Gel and Akzents Gel as well as Bio Sculpture, therefore they have a great selection of gel colors! I love the manicures and pedicures however they also do facials, waxing, eyelash extensions and St. Tropez tanning. I've also tried the facials, and it is quite nice, they use Dermalogica products.

I found really great reviews years ago online and that is how I started going to Spa at the Madison. The price for all services are clearly listed on their website and they do not charge different prices for different people. I do know that they have a different price list for different fills of eyelashes, if you want a fuller set you do pay more. They do not rip people off, you get what you pay for, depending on the service you request. I love the entire team at Spa at the Madison, they are very accommodating and professional!

I did the Universal Contour Wrap at spa at Madison along with the Euro wave treatment, the results are amazing and I totally feel the difference. All of them at spa at Madison are great, I have has done different services from everyone and everyone is really good at what they do. I love Rena's Electrolysis treatment, Katie's Madison facial, Ajja's waxing and her bubbly personality and Kaitlyn's amazing Body Massage. Totally worth it going to them and they have amazing promotions going on most of the time. Would really recommend the Universal Contour Wrap worth every dollar! :D thanks spa at Madison Team.
