I left this studio about a year ago after attending for over 2 years. I enjoyed taking the intermediate classes but realized the instructors were constantly coming and going. They were good teachers at first, but they never stuck around. Over time, the studio offered less and less classes and then introduced more expensive semi-private classes with less students. I took this to mean that they were charging more because they did not have enough students attending the classes. The quality of the teachers kept decreasing as time went on and I eventually forfeited my pre-purchased classes because there weren't enough classes being offered that fit my schedule. I was denied any sort of reimbursement or ability to use my classes over a longer period of time.
If this place is still in business, don't come here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 21, 2016
My first time at jade Apple was this PM at their restorative sound bath yoga class. There was a sub, so there was no sound bath. Wah wah.
It's hard to say if his is how the class normally is (sub- nation), so I'll have to update this review once I give the class another shot.
To start, the class was incredibly relaxing. I'm used to restorative classes that utilize the lengthy hold times with some flexibility enhancing postures/poses. After those classes I feel extremely relaxed, but that my body still did the work of giving in to the deep stretches. This class only used positions that were using the poses to gently hold us up and none of them pushed my flexibility. Again, I'm not sure if this is how the normal teacher teaches, so I'll give it another shot, but I wouldn't choose this restorative yoga class knowing other benefits I achieve at other studios.
The location is perfect for me & the studio is quaint- One good sized room. The cherry on top was the hot tea they had waiting for us at the end of class.

Great yoga studio. I love that they are "against" hot yoga since I typically appreciate the more "traditional" yoga experience and this place delivers that with focus on mind and body. I have only tried a couple classes so far, they haven't been packed with too many people and the instructors have been very friendly and welcoming. You can definitely tell there is a community of yogis in this place.
I wouldn't mind some more advanced moves in the classes or more challenging classes for those who want to try to really "advance" their yoga skills or want a vigorous yoga experience while still respecting the mind/soul component. Maybe I haven't found just the right class yet, however the Saturday AM Mixed Flow yoga class left me pretty darn sore (which is great) and refreshed. By no means would I want a "power yoga" session here because I think they do a great job of maintaining a good amount of traditional yoga practice.
Overall, great studio, great location.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I will never do business with these people again!!!
I'm a first time student, bought a Groupon for their business and they wouldn't honor my Groupon. They didn't put my Groupon in the system, and after spending 4 days of trying to contact them in every way possible (sent an email, submitted a form on their website, called numerous times, and contacted them on their Facebook page), the owner Zhila finally calls me to discuss my goals, what packages they sell, and continued to say she would take care of my Groupon and put it in the system. She then adds classes to my account as we're on the phone, and has me scheduled for Mon 6/19, Wed 6/21 & Sun 6/25. I took the Monday class which was a "cash class" I had to pay for additionally.
I went to the yoga studio Wed night 6/21 for the class she scheduled me for and they were not honoring the Groupon unless I bought 5 classes for $80 and then they would add the Groupon classes to them. This was not in the fine print, not on their website, and certainly not clarified to me when I spoke with the owner Zhila on Monday.
This is completely unprofessional and unacceptable, and feels like a scam. I would think twice if I were you before going there.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Mary! I'm so sorry about this. I had no idea. You should have called me to clear this up. I'm looking into this right now to see where the confusion happened. I will certainly contact you with the result. I can assure you that there must have been a misunderstanding and we are not about taking advantage of our clients rather building a life long relationship with them. We wouldn't intentionally do anything to jeopardize our relationship with you . I will contact you soon.
Obviously We could not get a 100% satisfaction rate with Groupon clients if we were in the business of tricking people. Obviously a mistake has happened somewhere and if you give us a chance we can resolve it.
Mary,
I'm trying to match what you are saying here to anything that has come up during the week, since I can't recognize your yelp name. Would you please contact me at 818-508-9434, and I will do my best to clear the confusion. Yes, our software wouldn't take the intro offers such as the intro offers in Groupon if you have taken classes with us before, but if we have scheduled classes together, I must have been able to take the intro offer. I went back to those dates that you mentioned above and really couldn't figure out who you might be. That's why I'm really confused, and I have not received a call that I have not returned from any of our clients in the past month. Please call me with your real name, and I will clear this up as soon as possible. I hope you could give us a chance to get to the bottom of this before assuming the worst about us.Namaste

Mary, on the day that you speak of all I could see was a cash class that was taken before, and never connected you to the account. I relayed our regular policy to our front desk. I should have been contacted the very first day before you paid for your first class with the concern and we would have fixed it right there. After the first class all I could see was a previous client asking for an intro offer, and I had our front desk relay the policy that applies to everyone and to be fair to everyone else we apply to our accounts. Again, I don't know what else I could say. There were lots of things that went wrong and I don't understand why you and us created all this, but I'm willing to rectify this not for business purposes but because I feel bad about the whole thing. If you are willing to come back I will extend my courtesy to you and rectify the situation.
Lots of love and peace,

I just came back from a Kundalini class with guru Jap. It was a community class for $6 which is an unbeatable price. It was well worth it and even more so.
I think Kundalini Yoga may be my favorite type of Yoga. Feeling oh so aligned, radiating from every cell of my being, breathing with ease, witnessing clarity of mind...
It was an intimate class, party of two, student and guru. It's interesting to me because both classes of kundalini that I've participated in were small in number, but big in vibration and beneficial for learning because of the intimate attendance.
Every time I sing the long time sun song, I cry. I'm not sure if it will effect me like this forever but it reminds me when I was a young girl and is cry every time I said grace at dinner. Spirit is present here. This song, a living prayer. My heart is expansive

If you don't bring your own mat, you may rent one for $2. There is complimentary tea, water, and cookies in the lobby. Take your shoes off at the door and leave your story there. Just be present and you'll be pleasantly surprised. There's no competition in the practice. This is not like fitness yoga. Kundalini is breath work and postures disingenuous to wake up every cell in your body with vitality and love.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Kim Jean T.Los Angeles, CA2445810Sep 20, 2017
This is a hidden gem in the yoga community if you are seriously there for the "yoga" not the social scene. I've done yoga at many studios - did Kundalini yoga with Tej for many years, at Golden Bridge, YogaWorks (way too crowded), Wanderlust (NOT a fan) and more, and have landed on the Monday night Restorative class with Salette at Soul Balance Yoga.
Wow, what a difference this class has made to my body that endures 50+ hours on a computer and commuter LA traffic every week. She is a wonderful, knowledgeable instructor in this low key space that is perfectly peaceful with great street parking. I've now been going for several months. It's a $6 community class that is rarely crowded so you get a lot of 1:1 attention. There was a mix-up with my email and the current owner was so patient in sorting it out.
I'm a huge fan - and hope to take one of the sound bath classes I keep hearing so many raves about.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I guess the bad reviews were from the previous owner. I just noticed them after I've been taking some classes recently and I have not had one bad experience thus far.
The current owner, Zhila, is very friendly and welcoming. All of the classes I've taken so far have been great. Smaller numbers in the classes I've taken (morning sessions), which I like. I bought a Groupon, which is how I found the place.
Being in LA, I'm finding a lot of classes at various places get canceled short notice and it can become an inconvenience. So far I haven't experienced that here and if they cancel, they give plenty of notice.
It's best to register ahead online. Easy street parking (2 hour). It's right next to a gym, but the noise hasn't been an issue for me. I sometimes forget that they are next door. I would recommend this place to others.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I'm a pretty big fan of this place so far. I found them through a combination of looking for a local yoga place and hunting for deals for first time folks - always a good way to try out a new studio. I needed to find somewhere that offered modified/restorative/kundalini classes because I was recently in a car accident that severely has restricted what I can do with my yoga sadly. This studio perfectly fits that bill!
The first class I took was a Wednesday evening restorative class and it was really lovely. Not too full but definitely a solid amount of students - it's right off Magnolia but there's not a ton of street traffic noise that you generally hear. The instructor was wonderful and sweet - Bethany. She explained/demonstrated postures carefully and I loved her choice of music and the tone of her voice is quite lovely. The studio is small and intimate and everyone there seems really kind. I wish the cardio boxing place next door would be a little more considerate of their music volume during the evening restorative classes (wishful thinking!). After class they had a nice offering of cookies, water, and hot tea - so sweet!
Today I went back for my second class with Dania and it was equally wonderful. She was so kind and answered all my questions to help my modify my practice as needed and after class even looked up a wedge that I could use in my practice to aid my wrist. Again, everyone that attended was kind and always adjusting to make room for the students that arrived.
I'm really happy to have found this place and excited to continue to go back.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
