I had a terrible experience with Skin Spa SOHO (severe hyperpigmentation scarring all over my back from a poorly performed laser treatment) and could not get a hold of any manager there, whether via email or several very frustrated calls. Finally ,at a last desperate attempt, I was able to speak to the manager Begum at this location, and she and her team have been nothing but phenomenal at helping to try and rectify the situation. They handled the communication with corporate to allow me to get the correct clinical assessment and treatment plan from their associated dermatologist in order to reverse the damage that was done by the other location. The scarring isn't gone yet and my entire summer will be spent with hiding under sleeved clothing (no bathing suits or strapless tops/dresses during post-pandemic summer - so sad and intolerable in this heat!!!), but at least I know the problem is being handled appropriately now.

My experience with the SOHO location could have really soured me with this company as a whole, but I really appreciate how Begum and her team have really taken customer service up a notch and will continue to go be a customer (albeit only at the Flatiron location.) Thanks, ladies!

Please don't come here for laser hair removal. I came in May for a half-leg laser hair removal, and I left with permanent burn marks on my ankles and lower legs. When I called them, they said to come in so their aesthetician could look at the burn marks and see what could be done. They gave me some sunscreen and moisturizer and said that it'd go away. 5 months later, and it hasn't. I even consulted with my dermatologist, and she said it likely would be permanent as leg scars don't go away easily.

While it's tempting to save money and get a deal at Skin Spa, I regret not spending more and going to a board certified dermatologist. The staff at Skin Spa tried to refund me initially, but the permanent damage to my skin is not worth $100. Their customer service is so, so bad, it's shocking. The back and forth over email and phone calls (and many left voicemails) just is not worth it. Please save your skin and go somewhere else.

So I've been with this meds five for quite some time now I got a full bikini laser with no problems. I came back in the fall to start my legs. Last week I went for my fifth appointment.... The woman who lasered my legs did not even cover my tattoo. I felt a lot of pain. When I asked her when ankle hurts so bad, I noticed that she had lasered my tattoo (big chunk of it), and all of my skin was RAW and bleeding. This picture was taken today, a week after my incident. She didn't even apologize.. she blamed me for moving... do not go here

A burn from the lazer for hair removal which I did not want my tattoo lazered off?!?!?

I think this place had potential but it's not a high quality treatment. But you can find better places in the city for the same rate. I think my treatment was basic because I like to try a place out before committing to anything g that could damage my skin and I wouldn't recommend this place for a girlfriend of mine.. I had a microdermabrasion in the dark room she didn't even check my skin before starting the treatment and left there with base skin like I Jair washed my face.

Love this Spa! Been going for a few months for laser treatments. First off- the office manager, Beg, has been amazing and helping me with everything from booking appointments to soothing my nerves! I have had two lovely people work on me and honestly, everything went soooo smoothly. Also want to note, the front desk receptionist couldn't be sweeter. The spa is sparkling clean. Would give more than 5 stars if possible.

The service providers are great, no complaints or issues and I would recommend this place based on them.

I am writing this review however to draw attention to the fact that although this place charges market prices ($300 for IPL which is what I went in for), be aware that you are very much expected to tip on top of that (which one would think is a choice), and if for whatever reason you do not, they will in very poor taste follow up and contact you about it multiple times including texting and confronting you in person as to why you haven't tipped.

I'm not sure if this is a corporate managerial issue or just the particular gentleman who works the front desk at the Flatiron location (seems to be corporate since if you search the reviews there's quiet a few others that have had the same issue), but I have visited plenty of other spas for similar services, have chosen to both tip and not tip in the past, and in no case was it ever pointed out quite so publicly as to almost shame me into tipping.

I believe that great service should be rewarded and tips can be appropriate in certain instances, however the very nature of the tip in the price structure implies that it is a choice in the customer's hands. If it wasn't, then it should just be wrapped into the price and no one would be the wiser. However, when the majority of your competitors charge similar prices without pushing the tipping aspect so hard, it can only lead a person to believe one thing: that you're clearly not paying your workers enough and they need to rely on the tips.

In any case, it's in incredibly poor taste to hound a customer about something that is technically 'optional' - visitors should be aware to price an extra 20% automatically into their visits if they wish to avoid a similar fate.

I want to preface this with saying that I feel really bad writing this and never normally write negative reviews--the managers were very accommodating when I needed to reschedule my appointment and my esthetician was friendly, communicative, and attentive during my custom facial treatment.

However I had told my esthetician at the beginning of our session that I had dry/sensitive skin, and towards the end of the session, I felt an intense burning sensation with the application of a product. After getting home I washed the product off and noticed skin sensitivity. 12 hrs later when I woke up the next morning, redness and swelling of chemical burns had developed all over my face and neck, even in places where I have no skin sensitivity. I don't know how any product could have caused this as I've never had such a reaction before, and I didn't think that something as non-invasive as a standard facial would yield such severe issues.

That morning, my allergist (with whom I had a prior scheduled appointment) confirmed that these are burns and not allergic reactions to a product; she said that both the look of the irritation as well as the time frame of redness developing suggested burns, which start out pale, while irritation from a histamine reaction would cause redness right away. I am now trying to treat this burn at home and praying that it doesn't cause hyperpigmentation or scarring, so I cannot recommend this location.

      Almost 24hrs after facial

I have been a customer of Skin Spa since they first opened about 15 years ago and, although I am 71 years old, most people think I am no older than 50. My skin is radiant, I have no wrinkles or lines, and my jawline is tight and defined all of which is attributable to the advanced genesis treatments and an occasional lactic peel. Julia and Olga are experienced, careful aestheticians and the front desk personnel and management are intelligent, accommodating and personable. I cannot recommend Skin Spa enough and I am reminded every time I look at my face in the mirror- without makeup - of the difference Skin Spa has made. Your beauty is your smile.

Well, the service I received was excellent but the customer service from the receptionists and manager at this location has been terrible. I was double charged for a service. I've reached out 3x over almost 2 weeks for help fixing the charge and no one has responded except to tell me they let the manager know. And the services here are not cheap so... I have let them know several times I just want to fix the charge to the correct amount and nothing more. I have received next to no communication. So I hope this helps someone - if you go here and are over charged for a service and need help fixing it - good luck getting anyone to show you any respectable customer service you'll probably have better luck with your bank.

The only reason I'm giving one star is because Ava has been terrific with my facials, and has improved the condition of my skin over all the time I've been going to her.

But the shady and deceptive business practices I can't do. They tell you after the fact that they have a "no refunds policy." They sure conveniently forget to say that when they are practically arm-wrestling with you to buy treatment packages while you are just trying to pay your tip, get out of there, and get on with your life. This should be the first thing they tell you. But if they do that, they know many folks would not purchase packages on the spot like that. Who wants to throw away hundreds of dollars like that?

And what business doesn't have some sort of refund policy - especially in cases like this when you just bought a package a few days before and never used used any of the sessions? This makes no sense. Anything can happen. It's pure greed and coercion.

It is also not a way to keep your customers. I have been going there for years. But their treatment of me with this guarantees that I won't be anymore. But on my way out, I intend to get my money back, and have already taken steps to take my complaint to the state. I deal honestly and upfront with people. And I have been a good customer for years. They picked the right one to pull this nonsense with because I am not having it.

UPDATE: They contacted me via email doubling down on their no refund policy, and then asking that I explain in detail why I want a refund on a package I just bought a few days ago and have not used. Since that email, there has been radio silence and they refuse to respond to my emails regarding my refund. Any business willing to die on a hill of denying a long-time customer a refund is a business that shouldn't get anyone's business because they obviously don't care about their customers. Beware of these people. I don't plan on just giving away over $300 to these people, so they can expect that I will continue to pursue this matter.
