I had a really good experience here. The stylist I had was Nikka. She was very sweet and personable. She took great care of my natural hair. I came in with my hair already detangled because my hair can be tough to deal with at times. After she washed and conditioned my hair, she put my hair in twists after detangling. I was amazed. No other stylist has done this but she really seemed to know what to do with natural hair. I want to say the appointment lasted an hour and it looked nice at the end... Sometimes I'm not happy with the end result but I really loved it. Oh, I didn't experience any heat damaged either from this experience. My curls were back to normal after washing my hair. I'd definitely go back.
P. S. I saw Cedric doing someone else's hair, and he's phenomenal, too! With Nikka or Cedric, you won't go wrong.
P. P. S. I can't comment on the drinks because I only had a soda since I can't drink. But they definitely ask you if you would like a drink.. You don't have to initiate the conversation lol.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Dec 4, 2017
OMG! I absolutely love this place!
I have been living in DC for a few months now and needed to find a new hairstylist. Over the past few month I was doing my own hair but now I needed a trim and knew that I wouldn't be able to do that myself.
I searched and searched and searched some more for a stylist and somehow stumbled across this GEM! I was a little nervous because I have natural hair and sometimes that can be a challenge. My stylist, Nika, was absolutely amazing from start to end. She listened to my needs and took great care of my hair. My blow out lasted for over 3 weeks without having to re flat iron my hair! While I was there, I also met another stylist, Cedric and I only heard rave reviews about his work.
They have BAR! Yes, the bar is an awesome touch. I love the idea of having a cocktail while be serviced. I almost felt like I was at the spa. It was a very relaxing time.
A great R&B playlist was playing through the salon also.
The entire establishment was clean. However, I didn't get to check out the restroom while I was there.
I'm super excited to visit this salon again.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Oct 30, 2017
No long write up is necessary for this place. The concept is great! The staff are amazing! The drinks are delicious! The ambiance is welcoming! You walk out looking like a million bucks! I don't think you need much more explanation then that.
FYI....I've booked appointments for the rest of the year. We love this place Cedric and Nikki are the best!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ty D.Washington, DC31511734Feb 19, 2019
5 stars!
Best hair salon experience I've had in a very long time. I was very anxious about getting my hair blown out. I have extremely tight curls (4C-Natural Hair) and I've heard so many horror stories about getting your hair blown out.
Before my actual appointment, I called the salon and they walked me through the process. The day of my appointment, someone from the salon called me and said they wanted me to meet with a specific stylist.
From the moment I walked in, I had an excellent experience. My stylist (Sheena) walked me through the entire process. She was so sweet and professional.
Two weeks later, my hair still looks great! I will be back sometime soon.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Launa W.Northeast Dallas, Dallas, TX625328Jul 15, 2018
First things first: I'm a black woman with natural hair, so I came in a bit hesitant. However, I was coming from out of town, didn't want to sit in a shop for hours, and wasn't looking to pay over $100 for a flat iron.
I called the day before my appointment to ask for Neka, but was told she would not be available. I told the receptionist that I needed someone who could do "black hair", and was told Tasha would be my stylist. When I showed up, I met Tasha, was promptly taken to the wash bowl, and was done in less than an hour. Tasha did her THING on my head - easily worth more than the money that I paid. My hair looked healthy and laid. Although the cost was $58 (an extra $10 for long, thick hair), it was worth it. I would definitely go back!Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michelle O.Washington, DC351123124Aug 20, 2018
I've been here a couple times and had great experiences with the blow outs -- I always got beach wave curls and it was just what I wanted.
I do NOT recommend getting a haircut here. I got my hair chopped in a way that required me to get it cut again immediately afterwards.
But, I think you'll be happy if you come for just a blowout!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Arzo K.Corona, CA46453Jul 31, 2018
My new go to place! This salon is incredible. I had a REALLY bad cut and color & went into sip & dry to fix it.
The stylist was incredible, she talked to me about how she could change my hair & she did her magic! She corrected my color & gave me exactly what I wanted in a hair cut. My bangs were terrible & she was able to blend them into my hair. AMAZINFGHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tiffany S.Bowie, MD150253257Sep 19, 2017
Thank you Cedric for perfect party hair!
Getting a drink included with a blowout is pretty fantastic on its own, so when that hair turns out perfect & a second drink was $5 during happy hour - Worth it!
Generally $48 seems a little much for a blow out, especially for a place a little out of the way but considering it's DC and it includes a cocktail that's practically a $30 blowout.
I enjoyed the service & the drinks here. Also look at my dope hair.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oneshia H.Washington, DC4115151Oct 15, 2019
On Fri 10/11, I went to get my hair done by Chantel, who had an amazing personality and spectacular conversation. However, she did not do a good job on my hair.
Admittedly, I was about 30-40 minutes late. I called beforehand to let her know, and she told me to still come. After bobbing and weaving in traffic for 40 minutes, I arrived. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seen - Chantel was the only stylist in the shop that day and was still finishing up someone else' hair when I walked in.
Once Chantel was done with the other guest, she offered me a drink. I was escorted to the wash bowl, but she barely shampooed my hair. I know a good cleansing and that wasn't it. I also booked a deep condition, and I do not think she conditioned my hair. If she did, she only let the conditioner sit for a few seconds. I was confused, but decided to roll with it. By this time, her client after me had come in, and she was trying to rush me out.
Before blow drying my hair, she did a great job detangling, but she not put any heat protectant or product on before blow drying. She also failed blow dry my hair fully completely - this is where she really messed up. My hair was still really puffy after she blow dried it. I asked her why she didn't blow dry it straighter and she said "for volume." But my hair is super thick - I don't need any additional volume.
Ultimately, I liked my hair when I left, but 2 hours later my hair looked like a bush. The blow dry and press did not last more than 2 hours. It was not humid - it was a 72-degrees, dry fall day.
I went to get my hair redone at DryBar the next day. I would like a refund or some type of restitution. I liked Chantel's personality (as evidenced by me still tipping her), but she did a super quick, subpar job on my hair. In her defense, she was the only person in the salon that day. She was working with what she had. This was technique issue and a poor management issue since the salon was not appropriately staffed.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
