The most empowering dance experience of any studio I've danced at. As someone with 15+ years of competitive and college dance experience, I'm happy I found such a supportive environment for adults to try new styles and get back into the groove. It's my third SassClass, and Emma (Advanced Heels class) and Nastya (Open Hip Hop Class and Vogue) are amazing, patient instructors and gifted dancers.

There is a limit on the number of people per class, so you will never find yourself too crowded. All levels are welcome, with classes for absolute beginners. Thank you, SassClass, for being the perfect place to reignite my passion for dance and be able to encourage others to do the same without judgment.

Sass class is a great place for dance whether you're looking to feeling good in your body, learn new dance styles, have fun, try a new hobby, or all of the above.

The instructors are knowledgeable, great teachers, who have so much experience. They really bring the energy and make class fun!

In my opinion, the video workshops that are "open-level," are challenging for beginners. The choreography is intermediate at best, which is awesome for experienced dancers. The mixed level workshops can be a bit intimidating (as they were for me) because there are often many returning/regular Sass class dancers in the class.

My only complaint is that I've taken workshops that were definitely overbooked. I didn't have enough space to dance comfortably, couldn't travel, and kept going into the wall. The instructor should have spaced us out properly.

      I will be returning!

I went to a flirty dance workshop and it was amazing ! Very empowering, everyone was kind and friendly.
The dance steps are well described and you have the choice if you want to do it with heels or not.
We had a lot of fun and the dance was really nice and sexy (exactly what I signed for)
I recommend it if you want to try something new and to feel sexy.
I will go back for sure

Been coming to SassClass for three years! Started during the 2nd year of the pandemic and haven't looked back. I usually take Emma's heels classes, but there are also other amazing choreographers that teach all different genres. I highly recommend for anyone who wants to feel confident, supported and a part of a beautiful community. I always tell my friends and others looking to take a heels or beginner-style dance class cause this studio is my top pick.

Great studio for dancing even if you're a beginner!

If you have limited experience, then you might want to consider the Absolute Beginner series to learn the basics and experience different styles to see what you like. They have regular classes every week that consists of a warm-up then learning a choreo to a particular song. They usually do smaller groups at the end of class where you have the opportunity to film with your phone if you choose. There are also professional video programs where you will learn the choreo, and then be filmed solo at the end with a professional videographer. There is also the popular rain room videos where you will go off site to film where it literally pours water on you for that sexy vibe. You can also book them for private classes for a birthday or bachelorette activity!

Be sure to follow @sassclassnyc on Instagram because they will post all the songs for the different classes for the week ahead of time.

      Instructors:

      - David Machicado: my absolute favorite! He teaches heels, street jazz, and reggaeton. His choreo is definitely more challenging, but you will get a great workout! His classes tend to be more packed, so sometimes there's not enough room to go full out.

      - Sofie: Originally from Ukraine, she teaches Street Jazz but with a more hip hop style influence. Her choreo tends to be on the shorter side but still intricate. She does a lot of isolations and breaks down the moves for people to understand the placement and body weight.

      - Emma Rosa: I have taken her heels classes outside of Sass, but she is a wonderful instructor who emphasizes body empowerment and femininity. If you're a beginner, then you could consider her Heels Foundation class as it will focus more on technique with a shorter choreo.

      - Kiersten: Kind, patient, and encouraging! She teaches heels choreo that has more floor work and acrobatic moves.

Studios: They have their own facility with two studios. It can get packed since the space is not huge, so if you want to be in the front, then I recommend getting there earlier. Typically their weekend classes tend to be less crowded than their weekday ones.

Overall: Beginner friendly with lots of options for different dance styles!

Love the classes here, especially Tony's Chairography and Neo-Burlesque classes! Great for beginners, unlike most studios in the city that are geared towards people who have at least some background in dance.

Good beginner classes for those who want to stay fit but hate the monotony of a gym. Definitely not a space for professional dancers.

The moves are easy to follow and fun. Love their selection of songs and dance types. A very rewarding experience for beginners.

Great supportive community and with various options of classes. I like how its actually beginner targeted and not an extremely large class. It's such a cheerful atmosphere also!
