I recently moved away from the NY area but had my hair cut by Audrey for the 18 months that I lived there.
I can't recommend her enough: she's friendly, patient and really takes the time to make sure you're happy. I had to endure at least 3 or 4 bad hair cuts before trying here, so glad I finally found this place!
Thanks again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I came into this neighborhood salon excited because after 4 years of living in New York I finally decided to get my hair done here (have been going back to Philly to get it done). After lots of research I thought this place would be perfect because it has good reviews and its right up the street from where I live. But, I was wrong...
I am not writing this review to bash the place, but I feel like people should know what they are getting themselves into because their refund policy is not posted online (which I will get into). I first went to get my haircut and a blonde balayage color two weeks ago. I brought a picture of what I wanted and we chatted about it I thought she knew what I wanted. When I got home (the lighting in there is not good so I didn't really notice until I got home) that was not the case. It looked like she had done a full head of color not balayaged highlights. Not only that but she tried to go all the way to the root, but it looked like my hair had grown out after a month or so. People who knew I had just gotten my hair done even asked why it looked like that. After two days the color also became a weird brassy color (something went wrong with gloss?). I tried to like what I had, but I just couldn't. I have never had to call about a bad dye job so I called the salon and the person I talked to on the phone was happy to schedule me to come in for a fix with the same stylist. Great! I could take to her and we could get it right, sometimes these things happen....
Well, I came in for the fix and it was even worse! I thought we were on the same page because we both agreed the only thing I needed was a few lowlights to break it up. So she did the lowlights and again when I got home and looked in the mirror I immediately started to cry (again the lighting is so bad in there I didn't notice). The ends of my hair were black!!! Black is not even my natural color! I immediately emailed them and told them what happened and asked for a refund because I did not feel comfortable coming back in. No response....
My hair is now turning a weird hue of green and have had many people ask what happened to my blonde hair....
After another week I got a call from the salon asking how the fix went and I told her the truth. I said I emailed them about what had happened and she wanted me to come back again with a different stylist. I told her I was uncomfortable coming back in and I would like a refund of what I paid for the color so i could get it fixed elsewhere (I have already made an appointment at my old salon). She told me they they do not offer refunds but their main concern was me feeling comfortable with the way I look and I repeated that I am not comfortable coming back and she said well I'm sorry then there is nothing they can do.
I am now out over $300 and cannot believe that a salon would charge that much for a service and not offer some sort of consolation. I have never heard of a salon not refunding for a service that was unsatisfactory.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lynn H.Brooklyn, NY3714Nov 4, 2017
Friendly, thoughtful, talented. Brenna transformed my hair in one quick visit. And they have espresso! (Plus cookies.)

I have extremely curly hair and have a hard time finding a stylist who is able to do a high-quality blowout - something that looks natural and that will actually stay nice for a few days. I've tried a bunch of different places, but Carla, who is new at Salon de Quartier, is the best I've found. She's done my hair twice now, and I've been very happy with the results both times. Highly recommend for the curly girls who occasionally want a different look!

Rebecca is amazing for COLOR!
Really incredible. Cut was great as well but her skill with natural highlights was exceptional.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Falguni S.Manhattan, NY21Jun 20, 2017
I came here with a Groupon for a cut and conditioning treatment. The good: the cut itself was decent, the stylist did what I asked for.
The bad: my hair was shampooed very quickly and did not feel clean. Also, the 5 minute conditioning treatment made absolutely no difference to my hair so I'm not sure how it can be called a "deep conditioning treatment". The Groupon is a little misleading - they wanted to charge me an additional $25 to blow dry my hair after the cut, which I declined. Almost every good salon I have been to in NYC includes a good shampoo cleaning and a basic blow dry along with the haircut.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Natalia V.Alexandria, VA4322Aug 5, 2017
I work in Dumbo and stumbled across Salon Dr Quartier. I booked an appointment and Sandra was my stylist. I got a consultation, wash, cut, style and blow dry all in 1 hour. Which was amazing because I have a lot of hair. I mean , a lot - I've had people take over 2 hours on my hair. I was so pleased with the results, and I've lived in several parts of the U.S. - Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Boston, and Sandra's French/ London cutting and styling techniques were something I've never experienced before. She was a knowledgeable, experienced and professional stylist. I highly recommend the Salon, but I even more so recommend Sandra.

I never expected to find a good hair salon in Dumbo, but little did I know, this place is just around the corner from my work. My stylist, Rebecca, was very friendly and good at her job. I'll be back.

I never write reviews. But this is something I think cannot go unsaid.
I went for the $99 ombre on a Tuesday night. They had quoted me for that price at a consultation session a month prior. I was so excited to have a new salon at a great price (with great reviews might I add) -- but of course it was too good to be true. The cost was actually $250 and I also tipped 20% on top of it. The salon doesnt include a blow dry with color so I didn't see the hell result I was about to face when I got home. They bleached, bleached my entire head with the "ombre" look being a blotched uneven mess. I couldn't even go into my professional place of work. I had to travel for work that week and in an emergency situation got it fixed at a different salon friend for an additional $180. I then emailed, called, and went in person to the Salon De Quartier explaining my situation with photos and they said that it is in their policy that they can only do store credit on services only. This hair hell has cost me going home to see my mom who was sick - their response was they cannot put themselves into a personal situation. At the end all I wanted was for them to stand behind their ORIGINAL offer to me and refund me the overage of the $99 and give me the rest in store credit. If you are telling me that there is a button to give me a gift certificate and not one for a refund then I think we are way behind in 2016.
All in all I am truly disappointed with this outcome. I am sad that after I paid an overage amount and also tipped THEIR OWN STYLIST APPROPRIATELY, that I am getting treated as such. It really is sad that a place that you "think you can trust" treats you so poorly.
Highly disappointed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi L,
It saddens me to hear about your frustrating experience at our salon! We strive to give excellent hair and exceptional customer service for all of our valued guests. Situations like these do not go ignored, and we would love to change your first impression of us because it does not represent who we are as a company.
Our salon policy is what it is since more than a decade and we unfortunately need to follow the rules as they are. A store credit is at your disposal at the salon anytime you need it - and we would be glad to have you over :)
We are here to help if you are interested and would love to connect with you further.
If we can support you, please contact us directly sdqnyc@hotmail.com or 718-246-7244
