      I booked various appointments with Linda, the owner, through October 2022. I booked most of my appointments in 2021. My first appointment with Linda was cancelled. I reached out via email (no one ever answers the phone) to get the appointment rescheduled. I was surprised to get a response from her that not only was my appointment not going to be honored, she was canceling ALL of my appointments with her because she's decided to only do color and extension appointments. There was no remorse or an attempt to ensure that my scheduled services were rescheduled.

      Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Your appointments are unlikely to be honored and are likely to be cancelled. You deserve better than the lack of professionalism and cancelled appointments you're likely to encounter.

      I was referred here by a friend. booked an appointment for a trim and color. the earliest available slot was three months out. I decided to go ahead and book. A week before the appointment I was told my appointment was cancelled (no explanation) and rescheduled for another two months out. it's simply unacceptable to treat new clients this way. if I didn't have an alternative I would have been left out in the cold. they were unapologetic and their attitude was simply "too bad." I also don't see why a hair dresser would require appointments to be 3 months out. This is simply ridiculous.

      I'm so excited to have found a natural hair salon in DC with reasonable prices and incredible service. They are still only accepting patients by appointment only, so it made my service fairly quick since I didn't have to wait to get my hair trimmed. The hairdresser I was assigned to was so gentle with my natural hair and it barely felt as though I was getting my hair detangled. The wash process was also great and she used this really cool steamer as a quick method of deep conditioning. The trim was pretty painless and my hair felt healthy and well taken care of afterwards. I've already booked my next appointment because I know they fill up weeks and months in advance. Can't wait for my next visit and my next trim!

      This salon focuses on natural haircare products. My hair is natural and I only use natural products (80% of which are organic). As such, I was extremely reluctant to go to a traditional salon where they use harsh chemicals on clients (and the stylists whom work there). So, I was relieved when I saw there was a hair salon here focusing on natural haircare products.

      Pre-Appointment. I often get flustered in the styling chair and don't always properly communicate the hair style I'm looking for much less the unique qualities of my hair (lots of long, fine hair, some coarse hair in the back). So, instead, weeks before I made an appointment, I emailed the salon describing the state of my hair (texture, up-keep routine) and the style I was looking for (trim, layered on the sides) including a photo of a similar hair style I liked.

      Appointment. When I got to the salon for my hair cut and styling appointment, Jalessea, the stylist already knew exactly what I wanted and was able to get down to work. Jalessea was diligent, gentle, and gave me the exact hair style I was looking for! I was so pleased with the outcome, her skillfulness, and the high quality natural haircare products that I was enthused to purchase products (made in Italy) she used on my hair.

      Next Day. When I woke up in the morning, even after tying my hair in a bun, the curls had loosened, but my hair still looked great the next day! (photo below) Will definitely be coming back to this salon!

      I had an amazing experience! I'm extremely picky about who does my hair. Julissa was amazing! She took her time with washing it thoroughly (felt amazing) and blow drying. The thing that i really appreciated was how she trimmed my hair. Amazing job overall. Great customer service. Will definitely be coming back!

      I first visited Rachel Joyce in January 2017. Ashley gave my natural 4c hair a nice wash and blow-dry. Now, a year later, I decided to cut all my hair and by pure coincidence, I was assigned to Ashley again.
      She was super. It wasn't exactly a difficult decision for me but Ashley and the other staff were very supportive. I really like my cut!

      Huge shout out to Ashley for these beautiful twists and her amazingly fast hands. I miscalculated how long twists like this would take and I was up against the clock to pick my daughter up from school about 30mins away from the salon, but I let Ashley know and she worked super hard to get me out of the chair ASAP and with beautiful results to boot! Thank you, Ashley. And thanks to Regina for another wonderful shampoo and the gentlest finger detangle anyone has ever done on this thick mane of mine! Shout out to the young woman at the front desk who expedited the payment process so that I could leave as soon as Ashley finished, too. Love this salon and looking forward to my next visit.

      I don't even write reviews, but after sleeping on it and still being pissed off, I figure I'd get it out in a review. Long review ahead ...

      I went to get a wig colored. I wanted the hair lightened with highlights added throughout. I took in a few photos.

      I will start with the good: They are friendly! The woman I worked with (Linda?) was really nice! And I like that they have beverages and a few snacks.

      The bad: The color job on my wig doesn't look anything like what I asked for! The color is wrong! How I wanted the color added is wrong! I specified highlights in my initial email and during the consultation (which was done at the front of the shop and not a personalized appointment at one of the stations). Come to find out "the girl in your photo doesn't have highlights. It's colored in an ombre pattern." This should've been said at the consultation. And, even if you were sticking to what's in the photo, WHAT YOU DID STILL DOESN'T LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THE PHOTO. This is an epic case of "What I Asked For vs. What I Got." I won't even post photos due to embarrassment, but just know the side-by-side is jarring. The color is this brassy/bronzy color with reddish undertones (?).

      When I saw the unit in the salon, I was gave it the side eye, but I wanted to take it home before I responded. When I put that unit on I about died. I had to pull up the photos that I showed them. Definitely not the same. In the photos, her goldeny color frames her face and dances lightly at the ends of her hair toward the front. There are clearly pieces of her natural hair color mixed in with the ligthened pieces. What I got was that odd color on every strand of hair. No variation whatsoever.

      Upon realizing it wasn't what I wanted, I sent an email (another con: they don't answer the phone and if you leave a VM it is not answered promptly--I received a call back 7 hours later. Not sure how a business doesn't have a dedicated receptionist to answer the phone. All of my communication was via email and they respond to those with 24 hours.) In the email explained what I was unhappy with and sent a side-by-side of what I asked for and what I got. She told me that the color is from swatch and she was willing to tone the hair to lighten and remove the brassy look; however, if I want highlights I would need to send her a picture of what I wanted and pay another service fee. Lol! Wow, really?

      Here's my thing: I know what I asked for and I can also SEE that my hair doesn't look like the photo. To tell me that I now have to pay for additional services to get what I asked for is really disheartening. An apology followed by "bring it in so we can get this right" would have been the right thing to do. I know that's not cost-effective for your business and your time is money, but customer satisfaction should also be a priority. I'd understand if it were a simple discrepancy about the color being too light or dark, but this is a clear case of the colorist messing up and the rigid, matter-of-fact response is disappointing. HIGHLIGHTS is what I asked for (it's even in my original email!). I won't bother taking it back for it to be "toned." I'll try to salvage it on my own. I am just disappointed in the entire process and their response.

      Businesses like to clear their name in the comments, but no matter what they say (if they say anything), we both know it was a botched color job. I'm always wary of reviews that are negative when everyone else has such positive experiences, but I now realize one-offs do happen. This was not a good experience, and I'm out $170 (color service with tip) in addition to the $300 wig that I cant wear. If you want them to do your color be very, very cautious, ask all of the questions and maybe bring a powerpoint presentation, a venn diagram, and slide show of what you want because obviously photos aren't enough.

      I was ridiculously apprehensive about allowing anyone to touch my hair after 3 years of being natural. I've NEVER let anyone touch it, not even my mom.

      However, I knew I was in desperate need of a both a serious detangle and a trim. I'm visiting from Vegas where there is no natural hair love and someone suggested this place. I was happy to look on their website and seeing them offering natural hair services for just what I needed: a detangle, deep conditioner and blow out and trim. Despite being nervous about the blow out as I've never had heat on my hair, I made a next day appointment with Jalessea.

      My hair was extremely tangled and Jalessea was incredibly patient and thorough, giving me tips to avoid the tangled mess I'd got myself into and stopping occasionally to ask how I was or if I was in pain. The exact opposite, in fact, she was so gentle I nearly fell asleep. After the detangle, she proceeded to wash and deep condition my hair (with the most amazing scalp massage ever I might add) and gave me some water to drink as I waited for my deep condition to steam.

      Once it came time to blow dry, Jalessea sectioned out each part of my hair, and detangled once more before twisting my hair into Bantu knots so she could dry it in sections. She made me feel very comfortable and afterwards my hair was so beautiful! She trimmed it perfectly, making sure everything was even where it needed to be and finished everything off with a shoulder massage. (What?! - Oh yes girl, a massage.)

      The process was so incredibly smooth, and she was never impatient or rude even though my appointment ran a little over on account of my tough detangle. This place made me so incredibly happy. It is definitely worth the flight. Thank you so much Jalessea. You're my superhero.

      This is probably the best hair salon I've been to. From the online consultation to my actual appointment everything was very easy. I loved the salon itself, clean and practical, they also had complimentary snacks, tea and water! Both stylists there were so polite and mine kept me informed with everything she was doing. I plan on going back .
      Great prices, this is the place to go!
