So after a really stressful few weeks, my body had feeling crippled from aches anxiety and just really bad posture. Undecided whether to get a massage or try this new float therapy I had been hearing about, I pulled the trigger and bought a Groupon for a float and boy did I make the right decision. First off, there are 2 float spas in this area with very similar names and I thought I had purchased for the other...turns out my Groupon was for R.E.S.T and it turned out to be a very happy accident!
Super anxious, nervous and unsure when I first walked in I was greeted by Lindsey one of the owners. She made me feel super comfortable, super welcome and just explained the whole procedure so thoroughly that i immediately began to relax and feel at ease.
She prepped a room for me, explained in detail what to do and how to use the pod and basically just told me to relax and enjoy the experience. I need to say it's very difficult for me to relax and I'm somewhat of a skeptic when it comes to new trends that everyone kinda "bandwagons" on but we shall see.
I showered and entered the pod and began to just kinda float around not really "getting it" at first then i began to relax and before i knew it enter an altered state of consciousness. It's surreal honestly. Out of body experience is how some describe it. I describe it as the most IN body experience you can have because your physical and spirit connect. Before I knew it time and space began to float away and before i knew it I was snapped out of a lucid dreaming state and didn't know if I was actually sleep or awake. All I know is that I left out feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and basically RENEWED. GO. That's all I can say and Lindsey is the BOMB. I will be back!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mary P.Holbrook, NY58774Apr 5, 2019
You check in and you get into their flip flops. You leave your coat on the hook upstairs. Next you fill out a form. After that the staff takes you down to your float room and they explain all. The staff member I had was very nice. They also answered all my questions when I called before the float.
Next you take a shower and wash your hair as well and go into the float pod or suite. I had the pod.
You can listen to music which you can barely hear with the ear plugs they give you and leave the light on or off.
I had trouble relaxing in the pod as I was very cold. After a bit the water felt cold to me. Also although I was wet from the shower in the pod only the bottom half of you is in the water floating. The top half of me was extremely cold. I also didn't like the consistency of the water and the way it felt.
The staff told me it's just me as the water is over 90 degrees (I think she said 94 degrees). I am often cold.
I felt very relaxed after! I still feel so relaxed the day after as well.
It's a cool feeling as you float effortlessly and can hear your heart beat.
Positives: Staff great, interior design of place beautiful, clean, relaxing.
Cons: Personal to me. I felt cold.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nicole S.Valley Stream, NY6386368Feb 28, 2019
My first experience at REST has me wanting to go back for more! They were nice enough to extend my sessions I had bought that were expired, so that my boyfriend and I could still use them for Valentine's Day! I floated in the pod and he did the suite/square. Both were equally as satisfying. As long as you follow the directions given by the specialists, you'll have a wonderful, relaxing experience. After floating, I felt energized, free of aches and most of all, happy. :) They have great deals for first time floaters and guests looking to return often. Would recommend to anyone!

A float spa, in my opinion is something everyone should experience in their lifetime. It's either you will love it or hate it. R.E.S.T. is a great place to experience it. Everything you'll need is provided. After you check in at the reception area, you'll be ask to remove your shoes and slip on a salon slipper (my reason for the four stars, it did not appear that the slippers were sanitized after use, and discarded towels on the floor behind the staircase). You are then led downstairs to your pod room which is equipped with a shower, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, towel, wash cloth, earplugs, shower bench, float pillow and of course the pod. You are provided with instructions and left to prepare for relaxation. I have to say I was surprised at how relaxed I felt afterwards. I was experiencing slight discomfort in my shoulder before floating; I experienced some relief afterwards, albeit for one day (massages usually last several days or until I do something to aggravate it). The experience left me desperately wanting to just go home and take a nap, which is what I did. Floating relaxes your body and your mind. The best position I found to be when I simply raised my hands alongside my head and completely relax. After your float you are provided with toiletries (I suggest bring your own).

Before coming in to REST, I was super nervous and skeptical about this whole float thing. A friend convinced me to try and I'm so glad I did. Lindsay put me totally at ease and allowed me to be comfortable when I didn't think I would.
The rooms are pristine and comfortable. The shower is fantastic and there is every amenity you could think of in the primping room!
I've tried meditation but have trouble concentrating most times. The float tank allowed me to focus and really get close to the kind of mindfulness I need.
After I felt so super relaxed that I just wanted to lie down on the couch! I'll definitely be coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 883337Jan 28, 2017
Had a great float today at REST! This was my first float and it was extremely relaxing and soothing. I was given a short tour of the spa first and shown the pod. The unit actually speaks when it's time to start and stop floating which is helpful. After showering, getting in and turning off the light I felt weightless, no pressure on my body at all, truly floating! I am returning soon to float at REST, thank you Lindsay!

Just what I needed to sooth my muscles after 3 weeks of shoveling Nor'easter snow! Great experience!!!
Better and better every time I come to R.E.S.T.!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 8, 2018Previous reviewI was a little apprehensive at first, having never done a "float" but my wife brought me as a Christmas present.
I enjoyed my experience immensely!! The young lady that greeted me was very helpful and pleasant and the float was EXTREMELY relaxing.
I had a wonderfully peaceful time! - Kai F.Queens, Queens, NY033Aug 13, 2019
To tell you the honest truth I was NOT impressed!!! I heard about the Float Spa from a friend in Georgia. She was so elated about her experience there and I thought I'd give it a try for my birthday!!! My fiancé bought a Groupon for two and we went last week. Funny thing is when we got there we saw a special for $50 and bought our Groupon for $69. Bummer! The place had the smell of a wet dog or unclean person. The receptionist took us downstairs to the pods and went through our directions in .2 seconds then left and went back upstairs.
Now, it's time to shower and then get into the Float pod. The body wash kept falling off of the wall, maybe because someone was rough with it, but me having to continuously put it back onto the hooks in the dark took up 5 extra mins. Okay, fine .. pod time! I began to float immediately and was really surprised and relaxed. I chose to keep the music on and turned the light off. To tell you the truth it gets really boring floating for 50 mins on your back smh/LOL! I'm not one who can sleep on/in water. I think the timing is too long and you're forced to conclude your session before it even ends. Waste!
When I showered after my float experience I got dressed and forgot my waist beads on the floor because it was so dark. No one called to ask me if it was mine after we left or the day after. When I realized I left it, I called and a man answered and told me they were there and I can come pick them up. I immediately came to the conclusion that they didn't clean the room/floor after every person leaves. *shrug* .. Good experience, but not for me to go back. Might as well fill my tub with epsom salt once a week and soak. Just do a regular body massage.
My fiancé gave them a good review even though he didn't like the experience. He's like that *roll eyes*, so don't be deceived by all of the good reviews. I told him I'll be giving a real review on Yelp. Thank me later. Lol.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Louisa T.Valley Stream, NY5353Dec 23, 2019
