I chose this place after reading multiple reviews from several children's hair salons throughout the city. That being said we travel very far to get my child's hair cut here. Why?
The atmosphere is inviting.
The hairstylist are kind.
I think one should be realistic...
Our first cut wasn't perfect... why? Because it was my child's first hair cut and he was screaming and wouldn't sit still. The second time he was excited to visit the establishment after being able to associate the fun and lollipop, therefore he was able to remain still with no crying and received exactly the picture I showed the hairstylist.
I say give them a chance and be realistic.
First time there, I observed them gladly fix a haircut with no complaints or unpleasant demeanor.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephen T.Manhattan, NY66113103Feb 9, 2024
Very upsetting following our second time here. It was a complete 180 from our first time.
Booking an appointment was quite easy through the website and it sent reminders. The shop was clean neat and had toys and children's theme booths.
With this being our second time coming here, we were expecting a the same type of service we had before. Not this time. Not a hello from the stylist, not a smile, but instead a careless blank look followed by "how would you like to cut his hair?" Being a very young kid, my son wasn't use to the gown and got upset. Instead of comfort and talking to him, she removed it and started cutting his hair without it and with a sense of urgency. No patience as she took phone calls while we consoled our son and took us for a rush job as we had to hold him down.
Note: The website states $40 for a cut ($49 for first timers). They charged me $44.95.
I do not recommend this place and will not be returning.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sarah B.New York, NY022Apr 23, 2024
I found this shop through google and I'm glad I did. We have been trying to get my son to have his first hair cut for months at regular barber shops and he would cry too much to even get the cut.
Coming here has eased all of my anxiety. They are so patient and kind. This shop caters to kids so they have toys and iPads to keep them entertained. They even give lollipops. Although my son still cries getting his cut. I was told the more he comes the more comfortable he will get & that is my hope. Either way they have a loyal customer out of me. Thank you ladies !Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachel M.Brooklyn, NY0236Apr 22, 2023
We have been taking our son here for a couple years now and it is the only place we go. The experience is professional, quick and efficient. The environment is very kid friendly and makes it an experience that our child looks forward to unlike other places we have visited. There are airplane seats, lollipops and toys! Our son requests to get a hair cut now. Highly recommend.

Very patient with my fidgety kid and always a great experience! Well worth the drive in from Merrick.

First haircut for our sweet son and Pinkyz knocked it out of the park. We have been nervous about cutting his hair because we love his curls. But she knows what she is doing and now our baby looks like a big boy and his face finally shows again :) highly highly recommended.

Unfortunately, my 10 month old son received a very hasty, very uneven haircut at this children's salon. If you go, it might be wise to ask the stylist to take their time. It might also be helpful to be very specific about the cut. This will take a long time to grow out in the areas that need it. Wish I could had a more positive review.

This is our second and third haircut at Pinkyz. (Kids 6 and 3). She does an amazing job, always asks for thoughts during the process, and also gives some helpful tips regarding hair issues. Friendly staff.
Feels very safe, all in masks, limited people inside.
I imagine we will keep choose Pinkyz for our kids' cuts.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Karen V.Columbia Street Waterfront District, Brooklyn, NY762Jun 4, 2023
Beware of this business! I had an appointment for my son and he tested positive for Covid the day before. I emailed the salon through their website form the day before. I decided to call the morning of to make sure they received the message. They informed me they were going to charge for the cut anyway even though I emailed the day before. I said I could still bring him then since he had no symptoms and they told me I was not allowed (which I agreed with to not spread Covid) but they still insisted that they would charge anyway. They also add a 25% service fee on top of the charge of the cut. Terrible business practices! I would love to support local businesses but I will never go back here!

I was hoping to like this place since we have heard good things from other parents online but we won't be going back to Pinkyz. We made an appointment for a haircut and arrived on time but still had to wait 20 minutes for no reason. Our stylist was free and the chair was free. There was no clear reason why we were being made to wait. After waiting for 20 minutes, the stylist cut my daughter's hair for 5 minutes (I know this because I looked at my watch right before and after she started cutting my daughter's hair). The cut was incredibly basic and the work of a total amateur. I don't believe the owner of the salon was our stylist. Perhaps if we had had her, the haircut would have been better, but we won't return to find out.
