Q:
What are membership costs ? They won't tell you unless you set up appointment, but why set up appointment if it's not affordable?
A:
I'm not sure there is a single answer for this, prices vary based on a number of factors, which is why I guess they don't just layout the pricing on their website. I will say, based on personal experience, they are more expensive than the local Y,… more

The facility is amazing. Sporthouse has all of the equipment I need to meet my fitness goals. Plus, the staff is fantastic.

I've been a member here more than once, and wind up regretting it every time. I go back because I like that there are hot tubs in the locker rooms and that the gym itself is big and not crowded. Its the closest "nice" gym to my house, and the other decent ones are like 20-25 min from me, which is a bit far. So its them or its a cheap gym full of treadmills and not much else for me.
I guess people were stealing towels or something so now they only allow you to take one, when they used to allow 3. Ok so I use the sweat towel after my shower, or I have to walk back to the front desk and exchange? Lame. Maybe pay more attention to how many people are checking out and actually enforce them returning them before giving back their membership card... there's an idea.
Showers often run cold but once I got in and the water in that shower, and every other shower in the locker room was scalding hot and nothing else. Like I literally couldn't touch it... it was THAT hot. Mentioned it to front desk and they acted like there are never issues with the shower temps. Lol thats funny.... there's more issues with those than there isn't.
Many cardio machines that I used were broken and I'd have to switch a lot. Just random things like broken TVs or headphone jacks not working. A lot of little annoyances that eventually add up. In all the years I've been going there, it has always been the same cardio equipment so I'm not sure they are ever investing in much new? Like much is the same as like 2013, and my husband, who was a member long before I ever was, confirmed that some of it is still the same as when he was there at least 12 or so years ago.
Turnover seems high because there's often someone new at the front desk. None one seems to know what's going on and its hard to get questions answered. They are NOT kid friendly there, no matter how much they advertise it as a family place. I mean if your kids like basketball or only take something thats a paid lesson type situation then maybe they will do ok there, otherwise there's nothing really for them thats actually included in the membership. If they are really little then I suppose the daycare is nice, but once they are old enough to be super bored with that, you're kind of screwed. My kids had more to do at the YMCA when we went there because they actually had plenty for older kids to do, and they had a lot more fun.
I guess management must not be handling the current COVID-19 situation very well either because they posted a pretty gross and political post on Facebook about the governor, because they were unable to open on the expected date, pretty much indicating that they are not concerned about the health of their members, only their bottom line. People immediately reacted angrily to that and threatened to cancel memberships and they promptly removed the post. Then the negative reviews poured in on their Facebook page so they hid all of the reviews. Nice job Norton Pines. If you want people to still pay your ridiculous fees then you should maybe care about keeping people alive during a crisis, not bringing them into a place that there's no way you could actually keep people apart and keep things truly sanitary.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mackenzie W.Grand Rapids, MI195711Dec 15, 2017
Never skip leg day. Get swoll. Beefy. Beast mode. Everything hurts and I'm dying. Just do it.
These are mantras to live by. Well maybe. Whose to say? What I can say is this place will get you there. Where? There. Why am I asking all these questions? Is this helpful in a review? WHO IS TO SAY? Not I. But that's not the point, the point of the matter is Norton Pines can help you get there, they have the equipment, the have the trainers, they have the classes, and they have the facility. When I go to here I'm getting the job done, in style. I feel like doing some laps, imma do them. If I want to go over and lift some weights I can go over and even lift bro. The list truly goes on, tennis, swimming, basketball, spin, yoga, even haircuts. Wait, what? Yeah that's right there's a salon up in here. Gotta look fly from head to toe, and this place will do it.

Figured they would be pricey after not being able to get price info over the phone. I was curious and had to check it out since its 3 miles away from my new home. The place is large and clean, but equipment is outdated which I can overlook so seemed great at first, but family membership is $157 a month and you are stuck in a 12 month contract (such an old school way of doing things... they really need tk rethink this). No trial period and you have to pay for guest passes. The next gym I visited (YMCA - tri cities) is only 10 min away - better equipment, more cost effective and no contracts and much more geared towards families. Starting the Y tomorrow!

Been a member here and have been very happy. Being that my wife and I have 2 kids, we have found the childcare options to be great. This has allowed us to work out whereas we wouldn't have otherwise been able. Good hours and have all the equipment and classes you would need to get back in shape and stay in shape. Definitely more pricey than a chain fitness but also has a lot more options. And with a free haircut it definitely makes the price reasonable(you need to tip $5, which who doesn't anyways). I would highly recommend joining this club.

Update: The new front desk staff are rude. Multiple occassions of recieving a bad attitude. Announcements of gym closing are quite unfriendly. If they want to leave so badly, perhaps they should get a new job. Ownership needs to take care of the bad egg, because most of the girls are kind, supportive and genuinely enjoy their job. (Fire them before you lose members.)

I found this to be a posh gym/spa. Exercise equipment meets my needs but time for replacements. I mainly used the pool, sauna, whirlpool, and steam room. Only two lanes available in the pool but wide enough to share if need be. Definitely wider than the ghetto'd gym I go to in Denver - and a much overall better and nicer facility too. The downside of the pool is that a big space is reserved for open swim - meaning the presence of noisy kids. Another downside is the staff - the lack of friendliest and making you feel welcome. But on another plus side, the have massagers and a hair salon.

The facility is always clean and inviting, staff is always friendly and personable, and you can't find these types of amenities that Norton pines offers anywhere else in the area! From the full service of Aveda concept salon, to be amazing juice bar, to be amazing child care staff and everything in between Norton Pines is hands down the very best health club facility I have ever been to, and I look forward to going back every single time! And so do my kids!

The club is an awesome center, but they shold be more flexible to people who genuinely want to join the club for a shorter span like 6 months. I have visited the club twice but have not got any response back from the management regarding the same. Nevertheless its a nice fitness center with all the amenities. Wish i planned to stay in the area for more than 6 months, i would surely been a member.
