I wanted to add onto my original review for MBSY!
This week I had a 90 minute massage with Yokasta. I actually won the massage over the summer after participating in a survey about the studio. This is just one example of how much Alyssa cares about feedback and takes seriously making the studio a home!
My massage was fantastic and Yokasta made me feel extremely comfortable. She was able to tell me about my body and provide energy work - this really makes the experience special.
The new renovations look beautiful! This is a studio where you will get your money's worth and more. The teachers made me feel truly taken care of - what more could you ask for?Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Nov 29, 2016Previous reviewMBSY is literally my oasis, a home (a few blocks away) from home. If your schedule allows for it, the unlimited package is totally worth is. With all types and levels of practices, over the past few months I've watched my body, mind, and soul - no pun intended, grow incredibly strong and at peace. The studio is small and can be crowded at times, but that's what allows instructors to be so hands on and helpful, making it a super popular place. Maria, Ola, and Alyssa (the owner) are my favorites and always make me feel so welcome, comfortable, and protected in their classes. Also Ola usually incorporates essential oils and touch into her classes so how can you not go? Anyway - this place is the best and I'm happy they are here in the community!

I've been here a few times over the past few years. It's a beautiful, clean studio with an adorable market in the front lobby.
Today I took Inmaculada's bilingual beginner class. It was great! She created a fantastic flow of movements. I appreciate that she gives us a few variations of each pose/movement, so we can find what works best for us in the moment. Inmaculada's directions are clear, easy to follow, and intuitive. I left the class with much less tension than usual.
I appreciate that Inmaculada checks if we are okay with physical adjustments and essential oils. I am very sensitive to essential oils and fragrance. I have to leave yoga classes that spray essential oils everywhere, burn incense, or worse... sage. So thank you for checking in.
On my way out, I bought a beautiful amethyst roller from the market.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Meggie O.New York, NY624Mar 6, 2019
Are you on the fence? Get down off of there and get yourself into downward-facing dog, you silly (future) yogi! Do you like having a variety of classes at all levels with dynamic, knowledgeable teachers? How about a cozy environment with delicious tea and comfy couches while you hang out before and after class? Top-quality loaner mats and props?
MBSY is an awesome local business, not some mass-produced conglomeration, and it shows in every detail. I came for one class to try the place out and immediately signed up for an unlimited membership (with a great discount for newbies!). Even when I don't make it to class more than once a week, it's totally worth it. I've never been a regular gym-goer, but MBSY actually makes me look forward to physical activity...for what might be the first time in my life. Come try it out!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Wendy G.Manhattan, NY31876103Sep 25, 2019
Love this yoga center because it's an accesible place to attend near the hospital and also they are really flexible in accommodating you last minute and clean. Offer plenty of amazing courses with plenty holistic approach.

I started off going to this studio in february and i wish I had more available time to commit to yoga because it is THE best yoga studio i have ever been to. I love their boutique, staff and classes. They offer free mats, water and tea which is really different . The aura of this place literally vibrates positivity and you just feel really good after a practice.

Shawna is great, her classes have such intention that allow for challenge and/or exploration. Other instructors are also great and I look forward to getting to know others. I have always felt invited in and able to ask questions; everyone I have interacted with is caring and knowledgeable. Front desk is always welcoming and space feels like home. Beautiful community and as previously well stated, a wellness oasis. I have also received Thai massage and looking forward to booking again to start the new year and exploring other wellness services. Thank you!

It's been a while since I've done yoga, and everyone from the front desk to the yoga teacher were very welcoming and friendly. The class itself gave a lot of 1-on-1 attention. Also loved the free mats, props, and water. Can't wait to come back!

Had a good class. Would return if I lived locally. Simple hatha class with a good mix of capabilities - the instructor did a good job at managing the mix of abilities.

I have been doing yoga for many years and have practiced at many studios around the city. In my opinion the residents in the Washington Heights neighborhood are lucky to have the most inviting studio with a professional staff, relaxing beauteous spa and fantastic teachers.
MBSY is a studio you want to go back to again and again. As someone healing from an illness have gotten stronger, more flexible, healthier and have more energy to greatly increase my physical capacity by using the spa and attending many classes.
If you haven't taken a class yet what are you waiting for.
I had to add to my review after just having an amazing hot stone massage with Yokasta. To say I had a massage does not give the experience justice. I had a spiritual experience in that I felt kind and curative energy flow through my body. The session gave me the tools to see how all my body parts are connected in a way I never have before.
Yokasta is personable, caring and informative. She gave me wonderful suggestions on how to be a better caretaker of me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine K.Fullerton, CA3132619Oct 28, 2016
This studio is a GEM in Washington Heights. If you need a respite from your hectic environment, life, schedule, MBS will welcome you with open arms.
I have been a student at this studio for over a year now, and my practice has expanded massively. They have a variety of classes including hatha, vinyasa, and restorative, and it is such a blessing to have them consistently every week.
The owner, Alyssa Snow, is an angel and truly cares about each of her clients- in fact, I don't think she sees us a clients. She treats us as her trusted friends and family members.
The amount of light that MBS has brought into my life is incalculable. I strongly recommend that you give the studio a try! They have great newbie specials as well.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
