Lacquer Downtown is my go to nail salon in ATX. Logan is a dream nail tech. Logan is patient, detailed, consistent, professional, and kind. With high quality products and the correct nail shape, Logan has helped me grow my natural nails so much longer than I ever could've imagined. Logan can also fix a broken/chipped nail like a magician!
Lots of fun colors to choose from and validated free parking is available in the attached garage. Gorgeous, clean space, and great service. They greet you and have your space ready as soon as you walk in. Generously giving two stars because I didn't get to have any nail service so this is entirely based on professionalism and customer service. It looked like a perfectly nice clean space based on the 5 minutes I spent there.
My experience was this: I booked a few days in advance for an appointment on Friday. I received several confirmations (they have a very thorough system including sending a calendar invite). I was coming into Austin for SXSW and had a big fashion industry event I planned to wear open toed shoes for, so I needed a pedicure. I arrived Friday afternoon after flying into Austin and the front desk worker was like, yikes I tried to call you but your tech is out sick. I explained I was on a plane. They didn't have anyone else available so my appointment was cancelled. They offered me a time later in the weekend but I explained that wasn't an option, which is why I had made an appointment. I told them I didn't feel they had made a very significant effort to reach me, especially considering that they had insisted on having a card on file in case *I* was a no show, and that they had reached out to me through several means including phone, email, and a calendar invite to book the appointment.
Here are some ideas for how they could have handled this better:
-reached out thoroughly to give me this information. Text me! Email me! Call more than one time!
-tried to make me another appointment elsewhere since this is one of the busiest weekends in Austin and they would know that places are booked
-cancelled the literal calendar invitation that they sent
-sent me the $$ they would have charged me had I been the no show (I'm not sure what that is, I believe 50% of the service)

I was so lucky to find this salon when in from out of town. They took me quickly, were super nice and gave me a great manicure. Aside from the quality of my manicure, the atmosphere is great! Loved it! Wish we had this Salon in New York!

The manicurists at Laquer always do a nice job on my nails and the environment is serene and relaxing. I also like that I can book online.
I took off a star because their manicures and pedicures are so expensive - the most I've ever paid for nails other than at a resort.
Maybe their high cost is why the salon is often empty or almost empty when I go. That's so different from the typical lower-cost, high volume salons where you get a better value but have to endure loud noise and wall-to-wall people.
Parking can be challenging - or expensive - downtown. I live very close by so I can walk, but be aware about parking and ask where to park and if they'll validate your parkingHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

I would give them a zero if this was possible. I just removed my nail polish from my first (and will be my last) pedicure at this place. AND I have nail fungus on my big toe. It wasn't that way when I went there--and in fact I went there without any polish on my toenails for months before so this place is the only place this could have happened.

Please reach out to us, it’s possible what you are seeing is drying on the nail plate. This happens sometimes with the newer polishes with quick drying technology or if the polish has been on for too long. It is most likely superficial and can be buffed out. Come to this place if you want to get sick. I had to move seats 3 different times to not get coughed or sneezed on by the nail techs. I heard one of the employees coughing in the back uncontrollably and spitting. Absolutely disgusted.
Why does this salon let their employees work on clients when they are actively sick. Never again.

I'm really disappointed in our service today. I researched and booked a group appointment weeks in advance for my best friend's wedding happening in two days. We were phoned this morning (morning of appointment) that one of the nail tech's is out sick, and they're unable to do one of the pedicure's for our bridal party. Totally understandable, it's stressful when staff is out sick, but I let them know we would have to go somewhere else since this is for a wedding and we all need pedicures. They confirmed they could in fact make it happen, but when we showed up TEN minutes late due to parking (we had given a heads up this was the case and were told 'no problem!') they said they could no longer do one of the pedicures and changed the bride's and my pedicure to basic (no massage, no callous removal). This was said unapologetically, while the owner just sat there in silence. No one offered us beverages, available techs hung around when they could've squeezed in the extra pedicure. I really hoped for such a special event we would've had better service. Our nails look nice, but for $300 we're now wishing we would have gone elsewhere and would have been treated more fairly and hospitably.

Booked a mani/pedi for when I arrived in town for a conference. The salon is soakless...meaning they don't use water for your pedicure (or manicure) instead they use cool/warm towels. Audrey did my nails and toes and she did an amazing job! I wish I could take her back to Orlando!!
I chose to get gel on my nails and regular polish on my toes. I am happy with the results but I don't feel it was worth $95. I can get the same services in Orlando for just a bit cheaper. But I am happy to have tried something new!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information
