I've always been athletic and have enjoyed a variety of workouts, but sort of fell under the impression that I had to kill myself in HIIT / bootcamp style workouts to stay fit.

An ankle injury in May of last year meant that I couldn't do any sort of running or high-impact exercises, so I was looking for gentler alternatives.

Yoga is great, but it just isn't enough for me, so I thought I'd give Lagree Pilates a try at KP Pilates.

I am so glad I did because this is truly a workout like no other!
Who knew such subtle movements could work your muscles SO HARD. This workout has completely changed the way I think about fitness and has, quite frankly, changed my body. I'm seeing definition in areas of my body that I never have before. Even though my ankle is just about ready for some higher-impact workouts, I will stick with Lagree as my go-to.

I do sometimes feel like I need a cardio element, so I am happy that they offer combo spin/pilates classes. I just wish they offered some on weekday mornings .... hint hint ;)

I've enjoyed the classes I've taken from all of the instructors, but especially love classes with Eva and Jen. No class is the same and just when I think I've seen all of the exercises, the instructor demonstrates an entirely new move on the Megaformer. There is SO much to learn and so many ways to build strength and flexibility.

      Love it!

I very recently began working in Long Beach. I live in Glendale. Obviously the commute could be challenging. I knew I needed a place to work out in the mornings to mitigate some of my commute challenges.

I found KP Pilates Plus through a Google search. I sent in some questions to ask about the studio and was immediately responded to by Kelli. She was very enthusiastic and informative. When I took a introductory class with Eva, I realized how out of shape I was and she took extra time with me.

For me to be successful, I need to be a part of a community and feel that this studio can help me with that and ensure my success.

Love this place! Came here looking for a workout to supplement my pole fitness training to get more of a workout in my lower body and even out my upper body and back. The workout is intense and I love the mental focus it takes to push yourself to be more disciplined in how slow or how far you take each exercise. I've seen changes in my body, especially more developed glutes and more muscle definition.

The space is super cute and very clean. Parking can be tricky the first time, so give yourself an extra 10 min to find the lot between 3rd and 4th St. Make sure you bring toe socks/pilates socks if you have them or they're available for purchase there.

My favorite instructors are Kelli, Eva, and Lauren. Kelli is a great motivator, Eva gives really good cues, and Lauren focuses on form with both verbal and hands on corrections. As someone that also teaches movement, I'm always looking for instructors that can help you understand better how to engage your muscles to achieve better results.

Your first class will probably be confusing as there are names to all the moves that everyone seems to know (I still get mixed up after a year) and you have to get used to the machine and it's appendages and spring changes, but the instructors are all really helpful and it's honestly a fantastic challenge. I like class led workouts but I also enjoy working at where I am each day in my own independent journey and this totally allows for that. Absolutely recommend it!

Such a killer workout!! All of the instructors are amazing and I always leave feeling accomplished. When I started doing pilates here I could barely hold a plank and now I can hold one for a minute!!

KP Pilates is such an amazing work out! Every time I take a class I am sore in the best possible way. The teachers are great and knowledgeable and are quick to help you with every exercise. I highly recommend KP Pilates to anyone!

I've taken plenty of Lagree classes and I was looking for similar options on ClassPass when I was visiting SoCal. I was a bit confused by KP Pilates Plus' machines when I first entered. Are there 1st Generation Lagree machines? They are very different than the megaformers I'm used to. They look more similar to traditional pilates reformers than Lagree megaformers. I was starting to feel disappointed because I generally find regular pilates classes to be slow and boring.

Luckily, the instructor was challenging and focused on form. I still would prefer a more "modern" Lagree class but I did get a good workout at KP Pilates Plus.

      Updated review

I dropped in using my ClassPass. I've never done a Pilates class using the reformer so I specifically signed up for this class so I could at least learn the basics. Unfortunately last minute, there was a sub teacher who decided she wanted to try something different. She incorporated cardio (jumping jacks), which I absolutely hated. I was hoping to learn some things on the reformer.

The reformer was really difficult to navigate and use. She hardly came by to correct my form or help explain things thoroughly. Most of the girls in the class were not new so I just looked around to see what they were up to.

The workout was definitely challenging! I saw my body shake like crazy. I am feeling sore in places that I haven't felt in a really long time. I really enjoyed the workout, and I'm hoping to take another class where they do Pilates on the reformer. Overall, I liked that it was a full body workout. I'd be down to try it again!

10/1 - last minute, I convinced my family to join me on ClassPass to try out this Pilates studio. They actually joined me! We took Dawn's 8 am class, and it was much better than my first experience. We spent 100% of our time on the reformers instead of doing jumping jacks. This time I really felt it was super challenging and difficult. I looked over to my sister and her fiancé, and they were both struggling. I had my sister mouthing curse words to me because she was in pain. I looked over to my right and saw her fiancé laughing, but that's how he copes with being uncomfortable. My husband was in the front and he seemed to be doing well. He did say it was challenging because he was working on muscles that he normally doesn't feel on a daily basis. Overall, they enjoyed the class and will be back with their ClassPasses! I'll try to take this class when I come down to visit. It was such a good overall, whole body workout that gets you sweating like crazy!

It's alright. I did a 3 month unlimited package last year, and I decided not to pursue extending any longer. I do feel that it's a good workout and challenging, the instructors are very nice and try to make it fun. What I didn't like was the classes getting cancelled with short notice, the requirement of socks, and the studio wasn't clean. Also I figure once I left the studio I would at least get an email asking if I wanted to come back.... radio silence. It's a bummer, with a little TLC the studio has a lot of potential.

I have taken a few classes here and really like it so far. I'm new to using the machines for Pilates so it does take a little getting used to. I'm tall and sometimes the placement of my appendages on the machine don't seem quite right. They recommend taking a form and technique class for your first one, which I did not do, so perhaps that's why I am having some challenges.
But the instructors are really great. Jean and Eva are patient and friendly -- they break it down when they see me struggling.
The only thing is I don't feel quite comfortable with the full frontal and rear view of the class. The floor to ceiling window is great for light but distracting when people walk by... Sometimes if people watch from outside, it makes me feel tense. I worry about the safety of the instructors too when teaching an early class and it's dark outside. Perhaps having curtains would help with creating a sense of comfort.
That aside, I'd recommend giving KP a try!
