Unethical business practices, employees are extremely rude. Google reviews were all bribed. Unhappy with hair. Sub-par salon overall and not at the level of other salons with the same prices.

Went in not knowing what I wanted done to my hair but I did know I wanted a change. Taylor helped me out and gave some great advice on what I should do. She gave me her top 3 options for me and then I chose one that I liked the most. Had no idea what I would look like but in the end I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it. It's not a huge drastic change but definitely a change and it is what I wanted. She was able to give her opinion for what I should do and I can say she is definitely GREAT at her job. With the lighting it's hard to see it all but trust when I say it's amazing!! 100/10 would recommend this place and Taylor to anyone I know.

i went to get a layered hair cut on July 10 2021 and left with a feeling that it would look terrible after showering and styling myself and I was correct. There was no problem the salon itself but it was more the hair dresser. I went with Kayla because my friend had gone there as well and got her hair done very nicely and said that they do their best to match the hair to any reference picture you may have. I showed Kayla a picture of what I wanted and she just replied with "oh like a shag cut" which is waaay off from what i asked for. Then she just proceeded to wash and cut my hair while it was wet. After that she just went ahead and blow dried it and it didn't look like what I asked for so I asked if she could define the shorter layer and then she went ahead and practically gave me a karen cut with a longer layer beneath. I cant wait for my next hair cut some where else!

Fernanda, we are so very sorry to hear about your experience at the salon! This is not a typical result after an appointment, as you stated above, Kayla normally does her absolute best to match a style to a picture as she was able to do with your friend. If you would like, we would be more than happy to try & give you a service closer to what you were looking for, no charge of course, even if it's with a different stylist. As much as we always try to match a picture to the best of our abilities, every stylist has very different techniques that they use & unfortunately are not always easily replicated. Again, please reach out to us if you would be willing to let us try to give you a service that you leave absolutely loving.

Worst experience at a hair salon I've ever had. Stylist didn't listen at all the what I wanted, basically seemed like she was doing whatever was quick and easiest for her to finish. I asked for a warm Carmel brown with a blonde balayage and she said she was just going to not dye chunks of my hair to give it a blonde look. I have never felt more ugly, I cried for three hours straight afterwards and then stripped the color out. I also asked her to tint my eyebrows and she left the dye in for so long it left my eyebrows looking basically purple. To that she said "oh well I hope you don't have pictures today." Overall it was just an awful experience and left me feeling worse coming out than I did going in.

I went to House of Holloway due to their positive Google reviews. I usually get my hair done out of town when I visit my daughters, or go wherever there's availability here in Lincoln when I'm in a pinch. I wanted to find a regular local spot for cuts and color. My natural hair color is very dark brown (which I hate), and at the time of my visit to House of Holloway, it was dyed a much lighter shade--the shade I wanted my then grown-out roots to match.
From the get go, I gently let my stylist know that I wanted my hair that same lighter shade, and that typically, stylists use a much lighter dye color in order to achieve that effect (this is something I've had done regularly for over 20 years). She brought out a swatch book and chose a swatch that matched my hair color. I again mentioned that it would probably need to be a lighter color in order to get the effect I wanted. She assured me she knew what she was doing.
She applied the dye sloppily and disappeared (I even had to ask someone to wipe some of the dye off my cheeks). My heart dropped when she dried my hair. It was so dark, it was basically the color of my natural hair. I voiced my disappointment, especially considering I'd discussed this with her multiple times prior to the color going on. She didn't offer to try and fix it. She simply said, "Sorry, but I did the best I could," and, "it'll fade after a few washes." (It definitely didn't and still hasn't after over a month.)
I felt extremely sad and disappointed--with the color and uneven cut as well as her indifference. In response to her comment that she'd done what she could, I mentioned that achieving the color I wanted was possible, considering other salons had been able to do so (clearly, since my hair was already the color I wanted, I just needed it touched up). At that point, another woman in the salon interjected, saying, "Then why don't you just go there?" (Meaning other salons.) I was so incredibly shocked, hurt, and embarrassed (there were other clients in the salon at the time) I didn't even know how to respond. I'm not very confrontational by nature, and simply mumbled a quiet, "I will," and left. (I still paid and tipped, by the way.)
I remain flabbergasted and sad that anyone could think that was an appropriate thing to say to a customer--especially after they made a mistake and didn't offer any real recourse.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Business owner information

Let me start by saying, I don't normally do this, but this is just mind boggling. First off, we only have 1 client by the name Katie C & she is a long time client that has been with us for many years, just as most of our clients have. Secondly, I do know who this is that had this written as you are the first and only client we have actually had to ask leave our salon. Not only is most everything you have stated completely false, including your name, it is exactly the opposite. You did not kindly, or "gently" as you put it, ask anything. You were very rude throughout the entire appointment & continually demanding different things as the appointment went on. You were given the service & color that you originally asked for. One of the very few things you were correct about is the fact that you continued to tell my stylist that she had no idea what she was doing. The only reason you were left sitting for a few moments was so that my stylist, who was in tears at the time, could go to the back room to compose herself. And yes, you were eventually asked politely to leave when you stood up & proceeded to pull your stylists hair while screaming at her. While we do appreciate each and every one of our clients, and always try to give the very best experience possible, we are not always perfect & we can admit that. If brought to our attention, we will do everything in our power to change what needs to be changed without any additional cost, but I refuse to let someone treat one of my very hard working stylists in that manner & then jump on social media & blatantly lie about the situation. We wish you the best of luck in the future with your hair appointments & we wish things would have transpired differently so that you could have truly enjoyed the wonderful experience that so many of our clients do.

For the past six months, I've been coloring my hair at home, either with dye from eSalon.com or other boxed drugstores dyes. I usually like the results, but they tend to fade quickly. To kick off a new season, I decided to splurge and get a professional color. I chose this salon because their new stylist was offering a 25% discount with a Facebook referral.
I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the salon was--very bright and cheery. For a Saturday morning, they were surprisingly busy.
Zoe worked with me to find a gorgeous rich red color. Not too dark and not too brown. It's just perfect for fall and a nice change from the copper blond I had before. Despite how busy they were, Zoe made sure to make sure I was comfortable and cared for. I really love the end result and was pleasantly surprised with how affordable it was. I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone looking for affordable salon services.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Edward B.Lincoln, NE2014Dec 19, 2016
I've been looking for a new place to regularly get my hair done. I have hair that is a pain and very difficult to do right. Cat did an amazing job! The price was below what I was expecting, and the shampooing was relaxing and more like a scalp massage than anything! Professional, proficient, and friendly with a great price. I can't recommend this place enough!

If there was no star I would give it to them.
I had haircut "a month ago". The salon was so dirty and the place was full of hair, and the products were so dusty
And she used a dirty comb from the previously served customer. The lady that was doing my hair had accent she said she was owner and all she talked was about her daughter which wasn't so interesting to me and she was pushing me to buy product, but I didn't like my haircut so I didn't buy anything and my hair looks like chunk cut and I didn't get good layers when I asked her she said it looks fine to her and she was a little rude I would never go to this place again.
And now they are keep sending me rude reply over my comment and bad experience. WtfHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

House of Holloway has been a successful business and serving the Lincoln for the past 58 years. The eight stylists in the salon with decades of experience do not claim they are perfect and that they do not make mistakes, but they are determined to keep customers satisfied every time the best way possible.

Everyone I encountered at House of Holloway was friendly and professional. I called at 4 pm to see if I could come in for a cut and by 4:45 my hair was freshly trimmed and beautiful again. My haircut was with Rachel and she was wonderful! She's super sweet and did a great job. I was pleasantly surprised by the price - very affordable and worth every penny. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Yikes! My fiancé had a coupon in the mail for a free haircut so he took a chance...we are now both laughing/trying not to cry at his euro-mullet haircut that looks like it was done by a small child still learning to wield scissors. Luckily it was free and the woman was nice and apologetic. But he will have to go somewhere else to get it fixed. Bummer.

House of Holloway Hair Salon is truly sorry for the bad experience. Our eight stylists have a combined 100+ years of experience doing a great job on many exciting and creative areas of their profession. Once in a while, we come short of our customer's expectations, which we are taking complete responsibility.
Jane, we will be more than happy to address this issue with your fiancé and make it right. Please give us that chance. Thanks,
Leeda Niazi,
