Absolutely love Highland Park Yoga!
I've been coming here for a few months consistently, primarily because of Steven, who's an absolute gem of a person and an amazing yoga instructor. Under his guidance, my practice has deepened incrementally, so much so that I feel stronger, more flexible, and more in tune with my body than ever before.
There's morning, afternoon, and evening classes, ranging from all levels, restorative, slow flow, and even virtual classes. Me, though? I prefer an advanced class, which delivers every.. single.. time!
Front desk is always so friendly and bubbly, especially Nicole and Mamert. They are always so welcoming and pleasant.
Parking can get tricky since HLP Yoga is located on York, but you can snag street parking fairly easily. Just make sure to check the street signs.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lianne D.Whittier, CA031Jan 29, 2024
Had an extremely bad experience with this woman that runs a workshop here.
So incredibly rude, unkind, and just downright nasty if she decides she doesn't like you.
Would not recommend!!

I finally checked out Highland Park Yoga. I had been to the studio years ago when it was Namaste, but I hadn't been back since it changed ownership and it's name.
I was very pleased with Highland Park Yoga. Some of the teachers from Namaste were still there as well as new faces (to me). The studio is very clean and the yoga classes are some of the best in town. Everyone is very nice and welcoming.
I always find street parking or a meter. Don't park at the post office.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 21, 2014Previous reviewI purchased a two week new student deal for $30, and after my two weeks passed, I immediately signed up for a monthly membership. This studio is bright, clean, and welcoming; and they have numerous classes throughout the day taught by knowledgeable instructors. I've tried other studios in the area that also had great instructors, but those studios didn't offer enough classes or I couldn't get in because the classes were too full. That's not the case at Namaste so I'm thankful for that.
Overall, this is a gem for yogis. Bonus that after each class, they offer free tea. - Amy R.Los Angeles, CA3622Dec 29, 2023
New owners were very gracious helping me with a previously expired yoga package. Perfect yoga experience -- the classes and teachers are wonderful.

Great spot! But can I start with - most important for me as I start to do group classes again - they take COVID precautions very seriously! It is the only reason I am comfortable going to classes again! They enforce all the mandates which I really appreciate. Masks inside, vaccine checks, spacing, air filters, still having outdoor patio classes (right now with Omicron I am back to only doing patio classes but I have done a few indoors with mask and it felt safe).
Ok onto the studio: the patio is great and has a sunshade. Classes are clearly marked as patio or indoor so you can choose. I have taken classes w a few instructors now but Amelia is my fave - she usually does an Ashtanga style which I feel is a bit rare these days so I try to do her class on Saturdays when I can. Overall I have not been disappointed yet and I hope to keep up with more classes esp when COVID calms down again!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eli R.Los Angeles, CA2137310Jul 17, 2023
I love HLP Yoga! I have never been much of a Yoga person, but over the past couple of months, I have attended 10+ classes here. (specifically the Sunday morning patio Yoga with Sondra and the Wednesday evening Sound Bath + Yoga with Jenessia.). The community here is excellent, and the classes are a great balance of Yoga spirituality and levity. (they don't take themselves too seriously, but also don't blast Top 40 hits in the yoga classes). I also dislike hot Yoga, and this is not a hot yoga studio so that is great. Just come here, honestly. It's the best Yoga place in Northeast LA.

My first time.
The area has changed so much in a good way.
There's so many restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops and much more like the yoga place!
Parking lots and street is available
The yoga studio itself has has a great space
The scent in there was so amazing - PINON (I had to buy a candle!)
The patio area was such a positive vibe with all the succulents
And the instructor JEN was incredibly inspiring
We did a collaboration that involved a 5 mile run or a 2 mile walk followed by a 40 minute yoga session ( yes 40 min!!) followed by a wonderful and smoothing sound bath!!!
I will definitely go again!!
I believe they have free yoga on Sunday's but don't quote me
No photos, I was deep in the moment but you can reference their IG
They provide mats, blocks and beautiful blankets for your use while at their studio
Also the items for purchase are worth every penny
I have my eye on their blanket that was reasonably priced! (Different from what is used by guests)
I loved the vibes and the health benefits they provided
give it a try - you will come out an enlightened person and an informed person
I will go back - yes, it's a distance for me but well worth it
Till next time HP Yoga!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 478265Oct 15, 2022
Been wanting to check HP Yoga out in-person after having used an intro month pass for their virtual classes (I highly recommend Sondra's classes wc have been virtual). The front desk was warm and welcoming and asked for my Covid proof wc was refreshing and reassuring after having experienced another studio that did not observe safety precautions. The space is clean and accommodating for a socially distanced and comfortable class; spaces are marked to ensure that folks are able to do their movements without accidentally brushing against the patron on the next mat. Equipment via blocks and blankets are made available w no extra charge. They also have a lineup of items on sale outside the class. Cubbies are available for you to store your belongings and I felt safe leaving my items. They have a gender neutral bathroom around the corner and an indoor studio space and outdoor patio. The acoustics are good and can hear the instructor relatively well. I've been to a couple of Jenessia's classes and have been impressed with the guidance, pace, and ease of flows. For context, I am relatively novice after having not practiced for sometime but enjoying getting back into it! Location is in popular York Blvd but parking is easy with offsite parking less than a block away and metered parking (but beware bc it's only 1hr & you may need to make a mad dash to avoid citation!) Overall highly recommend this studio for their wonderful staff, skilled instructors, and the chill clientele they attract.

Great homey studio. Great teachers. I study with Veronica who is an absolute wonder. They still offer live stream classes as well.

My lady followed her fave to a diff studio a few months back. I stuck around for the outdoor classes but basically everything's been moved indoors so me and the crew decided, if we're gonna be indoors anyway, let's scout other studios. There are a load so we're not done, but between us we've been to maybe 7 and already the verdict is definitely shop around. There are studios that are cheaper, or have more different types of yoga, or have more time slots, or have better facilities, or different combos of all that. Plus no joke there are A TON, especially since we're checking out studios and gyms that offer yoga and not just solely yoga studios (though there are tons of those too). Three stars still because everything I said is still true (plus shout out to Nicole at the front. Super super nice), but for real the patio was their edge. Without it, they're just like any other yoga studio and, when you look at it that way, there are definitely better options. Also tip, if you're checking this place out for a specific teacher, I think almost all of them also teach elsewhere or offer private lessons.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0May 28, 2022Previous reviewThis place is pros on pros and maybe one thing that is only kind of a con.
Location: Plenty of parking and great eats around the studio for afterwards.
Studio: Their inside studio is pretty big, but not big enough to not be able to hear the ques. Just watch for the pillars to make sure you can see the teacher. The patio is the real winner though. Somehow really clean for being outside.
Teachers: Between me and my girl, I think we've tried maybe all the teachers. The only one we don't like seems to only sub, so I feel good recommending basically all of their regular schedule. We do have faves though. Mine is Hannah. Her classes are NEAT. Good pace and good organization. Usually "All Levels" basically means "beginners", but Hannah will give enough variations to make it for real all levels. The lady's fave is Bree. She says "It's part movement and part spiritual life lesson." I don't know about that, but Bree is definitely super nice.
The only kinda con I'd say is the class descriptions on their site. They're just copy and pasted and I don't think they really match the class. It'd maybe be cool if the teachers wrote their own descriptions so newer people have an idea of what to expect.
