Went to float in a sensory deprivation tank for the first time yesterday at FLO2S. I can not recommend this enough. I work out six days a week and typically only get about six hours of sleep. I came out of the 90 minute session feeling more well rested than I have in months, and with all of my normal aches and tensions completely gone. The water is heated to the temperature of your body, you wear ear plugs and you can turn off the lights if you like drowning out most sensory input. You can still hear and feel your rhythmic breathing, but besides that it’s just the mind and the void. You can also take a phone in and listen to music, a guided meditation or binaural beats. I choose the to return to the void and the sermon of silence myself. The tank has 1200 pounds of epson salt in it, which also contains magnesium. The epson salt allows the body to effortlessly float in your bodies most relaxed state without being compressed and misaligned by a mattress. The magnesium relaxes the muscles and the nervous system allowing you to sink into meditation easily. The first 20 minuets the mind wonders around, but then it quiets down allowing for a deep fully zoned out meditation. I came out fully in the “flow state”. And I woke up this morning feeling like I had a new body. Many people have anxieties about this. They say what if I drown, or what if I get locked in? Yo relax, you won’t lol. Besides, this experience is designed to reduce anxiety. Might take a few times for some to fully relax but don’t let that stop you. Definitely going back.Fred A.
