Holy cow. So this is what being physically relaxed feels like.

To have a massage with Kenn Elchert isn't just a relaxing way to spend some time getting your muscles kneaded and your aches assuaged. It is an event. I know this may sound hyperbolic, but I'm serious: the man is a therapeutic powerhouse. I have no idea how he managed to figure out where I was storing my tension (I didn't even know that my lower back and hips had muscles there) but he patiently worked out all of the little knots. I'm blaming you for those, high-heels.

What sets Kenn apart from others is his demeanor, he instantly sets you at ease with a warm smile and a soothing voice. It's like he was raised on some island where they breed massage therapists and holistic health practitioners. Also, you're not going to find a more charming space. It's located in one of those gorgeous old buildings in the West Village that tourists gawk at, and if those little camera-toting ladies from the Midwest saw the inside of Kenn's massage studio they'd probably swoon and never return home. It's adorable, and outfitted to ensure that no matter what you're there for - from Swedish to Shiatsu or, in my case, dealing with over two and a half decades of cumulative stress and various attempts at being athletic - you'll leave completely blissed out.

Go. Call Deep Massage and make an appointment. If you don't leave relaxed (which you will) you can find me and yell at me, 'cause Kenn will be able to work out any stress that being hollered at by a stranger could cause.

I've been meaning to review Deep Massage NYC for a long time now. I visited once while in town and had a great experience.

The massage is in a converted apartment, so it feels very homey, which may appeal more to some than others. Basically - it's the opposite of cookie-cutter corporate Burke Williams.

Kenn was an excellent therapist. At the time, I was dealing with some running issues/injuries, and he managed to locate exactly what was bothering me and help relieve some of the pain and tension. It was great to simultaneously get a deep tissue massage (which can hurt at times of course) and also be lulled into a deep sense of relaxation. He manages to do both in one massage.

I'd highly recommend him for any kind of sports injury or deep muscle stress.

I've never found a better massage therapist who is more in tune with my body and leaves me feeling more relaxed than I thought possible.

Every massage is a quest for Kenn - a quest to leave you feeling renewed. He instinctively knows how to give seriously deep tissue massage that never pinches or hurts. (Okay, it can hurt a little in a good way.) Kenn listens to you and your body and then challenges you " just enough." Kenn is a top notch massage therapist and absolutely works magic. I have been to many others who do not hold a candle to him. He knows exactly where to focus and no matter how tight and achy I am when I arrive, I leave feeling much better. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Took a chance and was very pleased with results after travel/injury muscle pains. Felt better right away and more the next day. Not painful at all, really, and was my first deep tissue massage. I've had both cut-rate and luxury treatments but only this promises lasting results. Kenn takes time to find out specifics, is patient, and has a great sense of humor.

Will definitely book more sessions. Great location and setting as well (just walking the tree-lined streets of west West Village calms the soul).

I am not surprised to see such a glowing review written for Kenn. I have been the recipient of massages for at least 15 years and have never experienced a massage therapist like Kenn before. He's warm, charming and just someone you want to spend time with. He's passionate about what he does and has tried to help me holistically, talking to me about my diet, nutrition and fitness regime.

His actual massages are intense and I can feel him getting down to the layers of muscle that no one else has been able to touch before. His massages are interactive in the sense that he helps you through the correct breathing to maximize affect. I always feel like a new woman after getting a message from Kenn and the bonus: I've never been sore the day after! He's knowledgeable about what he does and cares deeply about his patients. I truly look forward to many more sessions with him.

Kenn is a real pro. His strong hands found all of my knots. I left feeling relaxed and refreshed. He has a beautiful/quiet space in Chelsea. I've had a lot of massages in NYC and Kenn is definitely one of the best. Treat yourself to his skills soon.

Wow - the other reviewers were right - so first, thank you Yelp! and then, thank you Kenn! A great massage, just the right amount of pressure, and I left feeling amazing. Within 2 minutes, he'd found points of tension I didn't even know I had and worked them out without over doing it. And so easy to book -- I had an appointment within a day of deciding that I needed a massage. I will definitely be back.

I have been enjoying Kenn's deep tissue massages since 2007. I've been getting these kinds of massages since 1997 all around the world, but Kenn is by far the best I've come across.

I was immediately impressed by how he uses breath, the energy in his hands, and pressure points to melt and untangle my muscles. He sometimes does light touch to lull you into deep relaxation.

At the end, he does these heavenly face-tingling finger gliding strokes. Be sure to be assertive if you are in too much pain, because Kenn is very strong. His studio is very inviting and clean.
