Walked in with beautiful long layered soft waves, walked out with chunky short layers and bangs that made me look like I had a mullet from the 80's. My ends were also cut in a way that made them extremely frizzy.

I initially called to book an appointment with a hairdresser I read good reviews about but the receptionist recommended a different hairdresser to me which I accepted, big mistake on my part.

Worst haircut I've ever gotten. Went to a different salon to fix it, New hairdresser was shocked by how bad the cut was.

Marcelo and the entire staff was amazing. Highly recommended, everyone is very professional.

My hair is long, past the shoulders, thinning, somewhat snarly, solid gray but tending toward ugly yellow and is always a mess except on those rare occasions when I am in New York and have the opportunity to have my hair done at Concepts Salon. My particular Concept stylist, Helio, proved himself to be not just any stylist but an artist in the most classical sense of the term. I say that because to make something look good when you give them the worst of materials to work with is a real accomplishment.

Concepts is a rather unique salon. Its proprietors are Brazilians and as such have given the establishment that sort of Latin panache and flare for which Brazilians are so well known. I usually hate going to have my hair done, but since I've found Concepts to not only be friendly but accommodating with a good sort of fun like atmosphere about it I've actually found myself enjoying the experience.

I have been coming here for almost 20 years and Andrea always does a great job. I love the laid back atmosphere and the professionalism . They only use the best products and are always up to date in techniques and styles . They have been at this location for almost 30 years and especially in NYC you have to be outstanding to last this long. I don't have enough good things to say about this place .

After a long time looking for a salon in Manhattan where I am happy with the results, happy with my hair stylist, and happy with the overall appearance of the place and quality of services/products, I can finally say I found the place.

Concept salon has a friendly staff and a unique way to treat their customers. I like the fact that I can book my appointment online or I can always talk to the front desk person when there is a conflict in my schedule. She is always sweet and has followed up to my requests in a timely manner.

I like the way I am treated by the staff. The way things are done there and the fact that I don't have to be waiting for other hairs to be done at the same time as mine are big pluses for me. They make a huge difference in my busy days.

It has been more than 2 years that I've been going to this salon and Marcelo always give my hair a great look!

I have been coming to the concept salon (former Helio de Sousa) for years. The clientele is varied and noticeably glamorous. Perhaps not known to the public, but many Brazilian top models and members of Brazilian diplomatic services are regular and loyal customers, so is famous Italian Chef Lidia Bastianich for example.

Helio and Andrea have been in the business for decades and will strive to do their very best and make you look and feel like a million dollars. They really get to know you and your style, what works for your face, and give you multiple options to work with. I recommend Concept salon's work without reservation.

Love love love! Merlyn did a fantastic job with my single process and I treated myself to a treatment that is marvelous.

A very good salon around Brooklyn sheepshead bay and Kings Highway area. Today I went for my haircut for the second time to this salon and I'm again very satisfied with both quality of the service and hospitality. Highly recommend!
