My daughter has been begging me for over a year to cut and donate her hair. I finally decided to give in and found this place on yelp. We booked with Tia and she did a fabulous job. I thought I wouldn't like my daughter with short hair but I loved it so much I booked with Tia the next day to get my hair cut as well and get eyelash extensions.

I absolutely loved my hair cut and the eyelash extensions look so natural, I'll definitely be back. Stylists were super friendly and they really know all hair textures. Very impressed!

I initially booked an appointment for a specialty color, which is $285 on the website. Somehow they got $600 out of me. I feel like I was scammed because at the very end they told me that my total was $500 because they gave me some package deal that I was not aware of. I guess this is because he gave me a light blowout and a little bit of a trim, but I did not ask for that. And then on top of that I felt like I had to tip 20% to be nice so now I've blown $600. The stylist was also making really rude comments about my original haircut (A friend gave me layers) like "She did not have to do you like this." and "Maybe we can try to fix this." but I honestly didn't think my hair looked that bad before and it hurt my feelings because I've been walking around with that haircut for 2 months now and he's acting like I look insane. Oh, and did I mention they were filming and photographing me the entire time for their instagram? Nobody asked for permission. Anyways, would not recommend. The metropolis salon is great though!

The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of Josh he was so nice and personable !
This was my first time in this salon or in any in awhile. My hair was all the way down my back and I told the stylist I wanted to keep it long. She showed me how much she would be cutting off and it looked to be about the length i wanted off. I don't know where we got messed up but she ended up chopping a good 6-7 inches off of my hair. Even if this is what she showed me, I told her I wanted to keep it long so she should have told me it was going to be shoulder length I would have said NO. She even referred to it as a "big chop" after she was cutting when I specifically told her I wanted a trim for my LONG hair. I said I am aware of my dead ends and she said we can take a little off and you can come back in a month.

It is above my shoulders!!!! I didn't say anything in the salon because I was almost crying in her chair. I was one of the last appointments of the day I believe and she apparently was going through a lot of personal stuff so I think she was rushing or she just started cutting and it was shorter than what we spoke about. Needless to say I am heartbroken and sobbed the entire way home.


I might like it when it grows out but this stylist needs to focus on what her clients want and not calling an unwanted big chop "fun" when you heard me say keep it long.

My sister went in for a simple black all over color and blowout. Somehow her 3b/c hair ended up matted like locs. She spent over an hour with the stylist trying to detangle with a regular comb. She said that no one in the salon had a wide tooth comb! When she was stone, she left with uneven color (red showing through the black) and light roots with with dark black ends. The hair all was very dull and lackluster.

They gave her $10 off for the inconvenience. She ended spending twice what she paid for them to mess it up, for someone else to fix the mess.

If you have naturally curly hair, I would advise you to stay clear of this place. Go somewhere where people specialist in natural hair and save yourself some time and money.

I went in for a balayage and was able to easily schedule my appointment online. My stylist reached out to me prior to my appointment to ask what my expectations were and what I wanted as well as pictures of my hair currently and what my inspiration was. The whole process of scheduling was pretty easy. Parking was a little confusing for me as there's only a 2 hour limit to park at the metered parking but I also just don't know downtown very well and probably could have found better parking. Frankie is the best hairstylist I've ever had! (Also bless him for running out to my meter 2 times to put change in for me while I was there ) He is amazing at his craft, talented, professional, and meticulous about his work. He took such great care of me and my hair throughout the whole process. He didn't rush, he made sure I was getting exactly what I wanted out of my experience and the results that I wanted. He is such a kind and sweet soul and will make you feel so beautiful and listened to. Everyone at CHS is really friendly and it's such an inviting place!

OMG stop looking through Yelp and call Carolina's ASAP and ask for Tia and make an appointment. I travel so much for work and have to go to different salons so my hair always has different shades and cuts. Tia looked at me and said she was going to fix this even if it took her all day - and it almost did! Look at my pictures! She totally transformed me! She is so amazing! She talked me through each treatment and would discuss pricing at every step so that I did not freak out at the end of the service. Her prices are wonderful! I am so glad I come to Columbia every month for work as I will be coming to her as well. Thank you Tia for making me beautiful again!

I feel robbed of my money. I had a hair premium blowout appointment today, September 23rd at 2pm. I did not even finish my hair when I was asked to pay because they had to close out the register for the day. I had no idea what was the total of my bill when I received the email the bill was $234.00 for a blow out with additional services that I did not ask for. I am very disappointed in this service and I will not be returning to this place. I was told on the phone that I had to pay $42.00 to hold the appointment and then $43.00 plus $20.00 for extra length I was charged $40.00 for extra length.My hair was also rushed because they wanted to close. By the time I got home my hair was already curly because it was not properly flat ironed. I am so disappointed in this hair salon. I am going to dispute the charge for this service with my credit card company and I am not paying for this terrible service I received. I would have never booked an appointment if I had known the price for a flat iron would be $234.00. This is outrageous. I can't allow Carolina Hair Studio to provide such rushed, poor service and then take my hard earned money. This is unfair to me. I am so upset.

I went in for highlights and had louise, she did an amazing job and was super nice in making sure I got what I wanted! definitely recommend her!

Tia is not being truthful as the circumstances of putting glue on wet hair. I went to get it removed from her within 2 weeks complaining that it was itching and she told me to keep it in as long as I could but when a client says my head is really itching you would think the professional would think something is wrong.. well I have spent thousands on doctors, dermatologist and allergic testing. Thousands on wigs and products. You would think that you would've offered some kind of resolve. BUT Nothing. I have alopecia because of you Tia. You didn't realize that I was having an allergic reaction to the adhesive that you put on my wet hair. You are saying 2 months. You knew I lived out of town. How dare you go there. I was trying not to make a really negative review, but you are so busy dancing and singing not paying attention to your clients. Your unbelievable trying to blame your lack of knowledge on your client. You'll be hearing from me soon. Tia how dare you put my personal business online like this. One thing I do is get my hair done weekly and it was healthy until you touched it. Do try to wiggle out of your your responsibilities as an stylist. Don't do that. See how unprofessional you are by discussing my family. You got the wrong one. I was going to let this go but for your comments I think not.
