Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese treatment that has been touted for its incredible beauty and healing effects, namely in preventing and treating the signs of aging such as wrinkles, sagging, dark circles, and for promoting overall skin rejuvenation from the inside out.

Gua Sha is a precise technique that includes the use of a small medicinal board to gently massage, manipulate and stimulate specific energy points along the face and body, using a “scraping” motion which helps break up blood stagnation, release toxins, and promote lymphatic drainage. In this class, Dr. Ping Zhang – a pioneer in the field of TCM anti-aging and facial and body rejuvenation and the inventor of the “Gua Sha Facial” as well as the first-ever patented Gua Sha Beauty Tool – will teach students how to properly perform Gua Sha on the face and neck, using much gentler strokes than those used in traditional Gua Sha performed on the body. Gua Sha works on multiple levels, by activating the facial fascia, facial muscle and different layers of the skin, soft tissue, sinews and tendons. Protocols will therefore include Myofascial Facial Diagnosis and stimulation of various Myofascial deep tissue, skin, connective tissue, sinews and tendons, using gentle strokes that follow the meridian system and activate specific acupuncture points without using any needles.
