BPM is an excellent studio! In my opinion they provide some of the best strength training and spin classes in the city. Classes are always fun and interesting--I learned a lot of new strength training moves so even if you go regularly class never gets boring. The coaches are knowledgeable and supportive, and will show you proper form and technique and encourage you to progress at your own pace, but are never pushy and never made me feel like I had to go "harder" just for the sake of it. When I started coming to BPM I had never done TRX or used a kettlebell before and was intimidated by strength training in general, but the coaches made working out accessible, safe and fun. 11/10 recommend!

After Yelp Fit Club and a Class Pass trial, it's fair to right a review.
I'm mixed on BPM. On one had, I love all the opportunities to spin and fancy technology. I hate doing total body stuff, so it's nice that they offer it as part of some classes to keep me accountable. I'd probably just spin all day, everyday if that was the option.
On the other hand, the technology may be too much. I found myself focusing heavily on the screens, instead of the workout. Maybe the multitasking comes with time. I won't tell you how many times my stuff got locked into the lockers and code reset assist was needed.
The instructors were good, but I personally didn't find myself in love with the spin classes themselves. It's so subjective. I only tried a few classes; I'm sure I'd find the right combo over time.
Ultimately, it's a little price prohibitive. To spin the amount I'd like, I'd go broke. Although my body would thank me for the circuit training.
The bathroom is so clean with showers and products.
I can absolutely see why people love it. Under the right circumstances, I probably would too.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Maggie G.Philadelphia, PA0251Jan 6, 2022

Note: classes were taken during soft opening
Vibes: laid-back, friendly, accepting of all levels of fitness
The workout (I tried BPM Fit):
-25 minutes spinning, 25 minutes TRX
-Spin bikes have pedals that allow for gym or spin shoes
-Spinning is guided by rpm, less about following the music beat and specific changes in resistance
-TRX exercises and possible modifications are quickly demo-ed at the beginning of the session
-Daily challenge with partner near the end of TRX session makes for an encouraging and fun atmosphere when everyone's tired
Noteworthy:
-They offer spin or TRX only classes in addition to the hybrid class
-TRX newbie-friendly with intro classHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tk A.Philadelphia, PA400124Jan 26, 2021
Thank you so much Sho and your entire team at BPM Fitness! At this point, after 15 years of living in Philadelphia, being a member and marketing consultant for many, many local gyms, boutique fitness studios, big chain gyms, Peloton and Nike Training Club online, and just about anywhere in Philly that I can clip in, I always, always, always come back to you and your team. Thank you so much for having on-demand classes and making it so affordable for us during the Covid shut downs. Thank you for creating an environment where positive change happens, not just in body, but also in spirit and confidence. You are a treasure in Philly and we are so incredibly lucky to have you and your studio in our city! I LOVE BPM FITNESS!!!!!

I loved my first workout with BPM and Missy! To be honest, when I used to do track in college we'd occasionally have cycling workouts and I really hated them. It wasn't a "spin" class per se, but I just remember being not super engaged and dreading bike days.
After having a friend highly recommended BPM to me, I've totally and completely come around to a spin class. Your butt does hurt a bit at first but you get used to it and wow was I challenged and feeling super good afterwards.
What I loved about this workout class is the competitive option you have - when you first sign up for a class and create your profile, you can opt to have your stats displayed during the workout. It really held me accountable to trying to match the power and speed of everyone else in the class, which can be challenging for a lazy girl like me to do haha. I'm super competitive, so I loved that aspect because I tried really hard to try to get into the top and had the workout of my life. The tech was a really cool and unique aspect of this workout. The studio itself is super clean and really cute.
I did just the basic BPM cycling workout - as a first timer, I'm glad I came early because Missy set me up on my bike and explained everything to me. She was also super understanding and nice when I accidentally hit the wrong buttons and messed up my machine settings (I'm gonna blame my bike PTSD on that haha). She also was just such a good instructor - I genuinely need someone super energetic to get me through a workout. Her constant loud encouragement as well as general enthusiasm really got me to the end. The music they played for the workout was great and before I knew it, the 40 minutes passed by quicker than I would have ever expected. I also low key love that the lights are dimmed during the workout - thank goodness no one had to be exposed to my ugly half-crying face while I was drenched in sweat. I'm semi-self conscious about what I look like during a group workout so you bet I appreciate the privacy. The class also wasn't super big, which I liked.
Did the workout destroy me? Absolutely, but in the best way. You *must* give BPM a try, I can't emphasize this enough.
A few tips:
1) There are lockers and showers available for use (showers are fully stocked with everything you could possibly need).
2) They provide a sweat towel on your bike for you
3) First timer? Definitely arrive early, your instructor can get you set up on your bike and help you adjust it and get used to the technology.
4) More interested in a strength workout? They have so many options, check out their classes page to see workouts that do cycling + other workouts in one session. They also have a great first timer deal, so def make sure to check out their packages too.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Kiana M.Philadelphia, PA1313116Feb 20, 2019
I really enjoyed the combination of having both a cycling & TRX class mixed into one - it keeps the workout interesting & leaves you feeling it the next day (in the best possible way!)
Ella's energy throughout the entire class was incredible & kept me motivated up until the last repetition on the TRX bands.
I'd love to come back and try one of their TRX only classes!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christopher H.Philadelphia, PA121201835Dec 17, 2017
Really pristine fitness studio. From the men/women changing rooms, to the rear spin studio, to the front TRX room, it's top of the line equipment and super clean.
Also love the location, as BPM definitely fills a void for high intensity group fitness in Fairmount/Spring Garden.
Shoshana brought a lot of enthusiasm and clearly knows her craft. You will leave in a mess of sweat.
Looking forward to returning, especially with the 5 classes/$50 promo offer.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Cindy L.Philadelphia, PA292110158Apr 17, 2018
I haven't felt this good after working out in a long time and I'm so glad I decided to try out BPM Fitness today!
The studio looked and felt clean and new, and I appreciated all the little extra things they provide such as hair ties/Bobby pins, mints, tampons, even razors, etc.
The class was split up into 30 minutes of spin (cycling) and 30 minutes of TRX, a combination of circuit training and using the suspension ropes. I've done both spin classes and TRX before, but I can definitely see how it could be a little challenging to follow along for a first timer.
SPIN PORTION: I am a flywheel regular so the bikes and TVs threw me off at first. You can either bring your own cycling shoes or just slip in with your sneakers. Overall the bike had more customization points (height of seat, distance of handles, etc) than flywheel bikes so I liked that I could control what felt best for me. I also liked that everyone's metrics were displayed on the TV which pushed me harder for sure. There's a lot of info on the TV though, so at first glance it was hard to read but cool that so much was tracked.
I will say that I prefer the way flywheel displays how much resistance you are adding.
TRX PORTION: I'm already feeling sore writing this a couple hours after class so I can only imagine how I'd feel tomorrow! Very good workout with the instructor walking around helping correct postures. There was 1 set where both of the exercises used the same muscle groups which was a bit challenging but otherwise it was good mix.
The best part of the class was definitely the instructor, Wes. He brought the energy and kept us entertained. He was knowledgeable about the different muscle groups as well.
(This was a super long review but TL;DR I highly recommend this studio!)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Leah T.Johnson City, TN319225235Dec 2, 2017First to Review
I took the BPM fit class which consists of 30 minutes spinning and 30 minutes with the TRX straps. I should start off by saying I've been spoiled at Flywheel, so the spinning portion was a bit disappointing. The pedals offer cages or you can clip in. There are 2 TVs on the wall to show your performance but the information is difficult to understand so I wish that was explained at the beginning of the class. It was also difficult to understand how much resistance should be on bike. "Turn the knob" doesn't tell me how much resistance I should be adding.
Overall, the music was loud but prevented me from hearing the instructor. I enjoy other spin classes because the best to the music assist with the speed I ride at and this class didn't have that. The TRX portion was interesting. This was my first time with the straps and it was probably obvious! I was a mess but I appreciated the instructor spending time on how to change the straps. They did partner people up for a portion of the class, which my partner was extra fit so I think I held her back a bit.
I can tell I had a workout from my arms and abs feeling sore, but I think the workout could have been better if I worked on the positions. Maybe a beginner class would help to understand what the positions are. This class moves quick so pay attention!
I don't think I'll be coming back due to finding other classes I prefer in the city, but since this place is new... I'm sure they are working on the kinks. The studio is clean and open with showers (providing shampoo, etc) and lockers. The instructors and front desk staff were extremely friendly. This place is for someone... just not clumsy Leah.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hey Leah!
Thank you so much for taking class with us! We can totally appreciate that the straps are challenging the first time, but we can absolutely promise that once you get used to adjusting them, it just starts to feel natural! Adding a beginner class is a great suggestion, and one we are seriously considering. We will definitely make sure we learn from your feedback and do a better job of explaining the screens in the cycling room before class, because a quick rundown will definitely be helpful for everyone in understanding the information they are seeing. As we are just getting off the ground there are definitely kinks we are still working out, so we would love to invite you back for another class on us to see if we can take your feedback and make some magic! Shoot an email to info@bpmfitnessphl.com if you're interested in giving it another go, and have a great day!
