• I had the 60 minute relaxation massage with Evelyn and it was great. I have had other massages there but Evelyn was by far the best. I will return for another massage with Evelyn. Thank you, Evelyn.

• I just got my hair cut, and it was such an oddly wonderful experience. I've learned (the hard way) to not allow anyone to even touch my hair in a salon unless I can first see their love for it. If we can't start out on that common ground, we are never gonna find any sort of an agreement. No good will come of it. Yesterday, while looking around for a place to get my hair cut, I had two different stylists refer to my hair as "that". A specific quote would be, "Can you comb that out, first?" or "I'm not going to be able to cut that without wetting it and putting a treatment on it, first." Needless to say, I did not book an appointment, but it still saddens me that these comments are considered alright to say. Today, was an entirely new experience, though. Today, I got a Deva Cut, and every single person at Les Cheveux that saw my hair either said that my curls were beautiful or smiled at their presence. Every. Single. Person. The Black stylist loved them (and that's not always the case). The (I believe) Latina young lady at the counter who wrung me up. The two White women (and yes, even the White man) that were working behind or standing near the counter all smiled at or commented on how lovely my curls were. That's never happened to me, not in thirty-seven years. I have never been in a space that was so pro ME before. Gloria, I will be back.
