• I've had my hair cut by a family friend in her home for a couple of years now. I wanted to try out a new place so I did a quick search on Yelp. I stumbled across Assort and after reading a couple of reviews, I decided to go ahead and book an appointment with Akina. I picked this salon mainly because I am Filipino and I thought they would know how to cut my Asian hair well. I was scared about the slight language barrier between Akina and I. I showed her a couple of pictures I wanted. She then shampooed and conditioned my hair, which felt super relaxing! I really liked that Akina checked in with me a couple of times to make sure she got the length that I wanted with my hair and bangs. She is probably the only person ever to have cut my bangs perfectly. The products she used in my hair were amazing and I ended up buying one. I was super pleased with the service. Akina is quiet and shy but it fit with my personality really well. I was so thankful to have her cut my hair! It is probably the best experience I've had with a salon. Even though I'm from Washington State, if I am ever in NY, I'll definitely come by and get my hair cut by her again!
