Your first week of yoga is $30 and you will notice big changes if you practice yoga at least 2x/week. Receive 15% off retail, member discounts on events, and free mat rentals during your first week. Beginners yoga, hatha, vinyasa flow, restorative, and yin yoga. We have sound baths (gong with tibetan singing bowls), speciality workshops, and meditation workshops. Our yoga classes provide instruction to students who have never done yoga before. We are new to Berwyn, and many students in Berwyn have never done yoga before, so Ahimsa is a safe place for those students to try yoga. Our teachers are highly trained and care for the students. They make sure students practice safely, and make sure the environment doesn't feel competitive. Ahimsa means non-harming, so this is a key principal behind all of the classes at Ahimsa. Alignment is very important to our instructors so students can feel good in their bodies and do no harm.

The instructor was knowledgeable, friendly and eager to help us become better yogis. I could personally recommend the studios in Berwyn and Oak Park and I've heard good things about the Elmhurst and Evanston as well.

The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable, while a variety of styles are offered. We've been regulars at Ahimsa for close to a year, and have recommended the studio to many of our friends. The space is not huge, so get there early.

My sister, my 86-year old Irish mother, and I took THE MOST AMAZING yoga/dance class here a few weekends ago!! I usually go to the Oak Park location for Ahimsa for yoga classes, but this was a special workshop being taught at the Berwyn location, so we all drove over. It was the most fun dance class I've ever taken! Taught by guest workshop teacher, E'a Williams, it was called AfroSoul and it was so uplifting and beautiful, my heart was soaring. It was 90 minutes, done barefoot, with gorgeous music. E'a is the perfect instructor. She explained how yoga and African dance as similar and explained what each of the moves meant and how they are connected. She is friendly, welcoming, funny, and kept the class really moving. I am going through some physical stuff and don't have the strength and stamina that I used to, but E'a made me feel like my body was perfect and I should feel proud of myself, and I do. My mother keeps asking when we can dance together again! My sister loved it, too. We will 1000% return to take another of E'a's dance classes at Ahimsa. I wish it was offered every weekend as I would totally start my Sunday this way every week. Highly recommend!

Nice cozy space, great instructor, nice students. And best of all with Ahimsa we can attend different studios which I did - this was my first time at the Berwyn studio. I look forward to trying out Oak Park studio as well. So for those of us in this area, we have three studios to choose from (and there is also Evanston) , Berwyn, Oak Park and Elmhurst - that is fantastic. And your business model guarantees a similar yoga experience, no matter which studio we attend. Since the new owners have come on board I have noticed a distinct change in the members, old and new. There is a visceral sense of community, everybody is welcoming to each other, and the instructors are very good, very professional, and very kind. It doesn't get any better than that. I believe most of us feel like we are family. I have incorporated Ahimsa into my weekly schedule for the physical, emotional and spiritual connection I receive. Now that I'm working from home, this is an essential and important part of my daily life. Ahimsa is Highly Recommended! Thanks again and Happy Holidays to All.

Really enjoy Fran as an instructor. She makes it so real. Also was honored that it was her birthday and she shared it with us. An inspiring teacher.

Oct 25, 2019Previous reviewI had been doing a bunch of outside work on my house over the weekend and hadn't realized how out of wack my body was. Her encouragement for the evening was to,
Enjoy the practice but know it doesn't have to be perfect to be valid. She always seems to be on point with the message. I always leave with much more than I came in with. I could not have been perfect that night but forgave myself.Aug 26, 2019Previous reviewRachel sets you up with the mental tools to manage your week. My life is so much better with her guiding my practice.

Great & patient instructors. Lindsay, Caitlin & Lauren go thru the class very deliberately. The studio has all the equipment you'll need. The Sound classes are a great way to relax. The instructors will help you if you need some guidance. Cost is very reasonable.

I travel often. I always look for Yoga studios with Yoga teachers who practice all of the limbs of Yoga. Caitlin embodies all of the Yoga teachings. Practice with her, you will grow from the experience.

Great teacher & chill vibe. The space was a bit cramped, but I enjoyed the feeling of community. Lots of good energy and laughter.

Okay yogis (and wanna-be yogis)....you've GOT to go to this studio! Awesome space and vibes....all the teachers here are incredible AND it's not overcrowded. Get off the couch and do something really rewarding physically, spiritually, and mentally for yourselves!
Love Caitlyn, Mona, Meghan, Marissa, Susanne....EVERYONE is welcoming and extremely talented!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Feb 4, 2016Previous reviewAwesome, comfortable and beautiful space...and wonderful teachers. All kinds of classes for ALL levels. I also go to Ahimsa in Oak Park (have been for 4 years now). Excellent teachers here as well. My favorite is Rachel Glick (Thursdays at 10:45 AM), and also like Dale and Freya. Actually, ALL the teachers at Ahimsa are incredible and always take into consideration everyone's personal level and their challenges/issues. Never overcrowded.
JUST DO IT~ There's also an active Groupon for Berwyn....I would suggest the 3 month package. You'll never stop going! - Nicole G.Batavia, IL13313473460Feb 21, 2019
Tonight was my first time back to yoga in a long time. Liz was my instructor and she was very welcoming from the beginning! We incorporated yoga straps and blocks- which I've actually never used before. I've only done yoga with just a mat (alright and maybe a mimosa). BUT! I love how she incorporated them and jumping back into it, I didn't feel out of place. We also practiced some wall work- which I LOVED. It brought me back to my elementary school gymnast days in the best way because you're ENCOURAGED to fling your legs up against the wall. I never knew this type of wall work yoga even existed!! Anyway, I went into the class with 4 full days of work stress inside me. I've had shortness of breath because of all the stress this week but Liz's deep breaths practices helped me so much. Thank you Liz! And I already bought the lavender eye pillow we used to finish class because I couldn't stop thinking about it :)

I feel comfortable at Ahimsa Berwyn. The staff is so welcoming and non-judgmental or snobby. Love Laura's beginner's class and others of course but I feel her class has prepared me to be able to feel confident enough to take other classes.
