  • Poor acoustics in the studio
  • We have taken both bachata classes and we have a STRONG preference for this instructor. He seems to care about the students being able to dance outside of his class and has been working on specific things that are needed for the fundamentals. He is not blowing past material because it's boring and tedious to teach fundamentals- he's digging in and making sure that his students are gaining confidence as well as learning the necessary things to enjoy a social dance. I'll just say I've taken a million dance classes and he is one in a million. There is an integrity to his lessons. One thing he has done but I think could be advised to other teachers of partner dance is to follow every leader in order to understand how much of the lesson was really learned in class. If the majority of the class is not able to lead the material in the lesson by the end of class then perhaps adjust the focus of class to focus more on the students and less on the egos of the instructor. That's where he specifically stands out. He's giving the building blocks in the lowest pressure possible. He's getting the most out of his students time. He's meeting his students where they are at. He's not leaving them in the dust because they already covered something last time. He's reviewing as much as it takes for the students to master the necessary fundamentals. He's going with the majority of the rooms pace, adjusting each lesson to the students that are in that class.
